Default For how long can you drive without the smart key?

Hi guys,
I always wondered. For how long will a person be able to drive the LS430 if the remote key is not in my pocket?
I thought of it by thinking, what would happen if you left your car running and went inside a 7-eleven for a few minutes, and a thief got in the car and drive away. I believe that the car should stop after a few miles. I'm not sure. Hopefully someone can answer that. I always leave my car running but lock it by using the manual key shaft in the remote. That's of course, if I wanted to leave the A/C running or some other reason.

Thanks.

How long are you in 7-11 that it would cool or warm up that much? Theoretically as long as fill with gas while running it will keep running. Ive driven home 3 miles without key because only had one set and wife needed her key for later. Dont see why it would strand you if say the car was not stolen.

Car will drive as long as you keep it on. The moment you turn off the ignition is the moment you will need your key again.

I figured it would shut off after a while. If I walk away with the key in my pocket it will start beeping.

It beeps to tell you key not detected. It didn't shut off in the 3 miles I drove home. Bad on me, but I have left it idling in the winters to warm up before I leave and it'll run for atleast 5 min so I doubt there would be turn off.

Hmm. That sucks.

I actually thought it had a safety feature. But oh well, it's not like I really need it. It would've been great to know if that's how the Japanese thought about it.

I asked the same question when I bought mine. The sales man said the car would run normal until it is shut off. So you won't get standed if for some reason you find yourself without a key.

Good to know. I always thought it would shut off after certain time therefore I always leave my LS running with the windows down during the hot summer. I guess I won't do that anymore.

No, That's the point of this OP question and thread... once the car is started it will continue to run and drive normally without the smart key until it is shut off.
