I have an 05 with 69k right now and going to wait til 90k. From what I've read these belts are pretty robust and many wait 100k before changing and when they pull the old belt it still looks new. Changing it at 53k would seem premature at least to me.

Mine is 05 with 35k on and I will wait till it hits 80 to 90k. I have 03 RX300 and I open it at 150k miles and the belt was still in pristine condition. Never can say enough of OEM parts.

agreed with all...wait and do so without worrying about it. But pay attention to the condition of your water pump, if you see it weeping coolant, or making sounds that indicate the bearings are going then I'd think twice about your belt, and go ahead and replace both.

I had on 1999 LS400 that I owned before my LS430. Same deal. Purchased with 68k. Drove it till 82k and traded it on on my LS430. Anyway, I spoke with multiple service managers at Lexus dealers and they all said to go by the mileage. Lexus does say every 9 years or 90k but the managers had never seen one fail based on age. I would wait till around the 90K mile mark and not worry about it.

hi its more age related at this point with the low mileage, i would wait another year then change the belt without the water pump and tensioners if your budget is limited , if you pick the right mechanic they can tell when the water pump is good or when its ready to go if money is not an object then its a no brainer,
enjoy your ride with that mileage and year its gold

I have a 2005 w/ 66K miles. I had a 2001 honda prelude and did the t-belt in 2009 w/ 40K mi based on time (recommended at 8 yrs). It looked brand new, didn't need to be done. I had my LX's t-belt done at 90K, and it looked pretty good (not new, but very good cond). Since the LS has basically the same engine design (3UZ-FE vs. 2UZ-FE), I would do it at 90K even if it's after 10 yrs. There's one guy on the Landcruiser forum who did his LX timing belt for the first time at 198K miles. The mechanic said it could have broken at any time. So there's one data point as to how long the Toyota t-belt on a V8 can last. My dealer in AZ was recommending 105K for the t-belts on the V8's (LX/GX/LS/SC) but 75K on the V6's (RX/ES), saying the V6 is a lot harsher on the belt than the V8's (this is in hot So. AZ conditions).
