Default Has anyone used a clear bra on lower body panels

Greetings all,

Just wondering if anyone here ever used a clear bra treatment on the lower body panels behind each wheel to protect from dirt and wet leaves slinging up onto paint. I had given this some thought instead of shelling out $500.00 for the mud flaps.

Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks.

I think they are intended to do a different job. The clear bra treatment (3M film) protects the paint but the road junk is still thrown up onto the car. The mud flaps deflect the junk in the first place.
What look do you want? They will be quite different. IMHO the flaps are a certain look that I may or may not care for. The 3M film does a very good job of protecting the paint and is nearly invisible.

$500 sounds like an awful lot for mud flaps. Is that a dealership price? I haven't looked but I'll bet Autoanything or Parts.com or even eBay will have a better deal on a similar look and quality of product at half the price.

I had the mud flaps on my previous 2004 LS which was totaled on 21 Oct 2013. They looked rather nice once installed. They were color matched in Blue Onyx Pearl purchased from parts.com for $500.00 which was about the best price I found anywhere.

This is the link for my pictures of the '04 with the mud flaps installed.

I think I will go with the 3M film that I've already ordered for $25.00 and save $475.00 for something else. Thanks.

I don't want to get to get off topic but I was wondering where you got your floor mats? My neighbor has them in his LS430 and they're awesome.

The 3M sounds like great idea if it's only $25. Will you be installing it yourself?

Thanks! I've been wanting those mats for a while now but I couldn't find where to buy them.

If you decide to order some, make sure you tell them to install the RETENTION CLIP holes for the front two mats. Thanks.

Thank you for that tip. I do plan on ordering some in the next month or so.
