Default Power trunk lift?

Has anyone installed a power lift kit for the trunk lid? Sure would be a nice addition.

i agree with you on that. Its funny, the LS430 has a pretty heavy trunk. IM young but when I see the much older drivers in the S. FL area (some of which probably should have had their drivers license pulled several years ago) I wonder how they are able to lift that heavy trunk. I'll be watching this thread for a possible aftermarket addition.

All LS430 are like that? And I thought mine were wearing out, and was seriously considering replacing them.
What about the LS400 and LS460 trunks?

The supports do wear out and offer less assistance. Mine were replaced by the previous owner soon before I purchased it. When you pop the trunk mine takes minor effort to lift and the supports raise the trunk the rest of the way. This is also true of the hood struts.

I have never heard of a power assist option being available for the LS430.

All supports eventually wear out. But it happens over time and the user just gets conditioned to the gradual change. When the trunk won't stay open when the bottom of the trunk is approximately 16 inches from full closure, the struts are not doing their job and should be changed. Just my observations on my car.

I agree it's a strange feature for a flagship car not to have an easier opening trunk. The last Lexus ES I had used some sort of torsion bar to help open, it was a MUCH better system.

Even after replacing the trunk lifts, you still have to manually open it up, at least most of the way before the "lift" part kicks in.

I hate the trunk on my LS. It's hard to open and hard to close. I don't care for the auto close feature because it always closes all the way on the first try. Feels even harder to close now that I changed the trunk shocks.

The trunk on my GS would pop up half way when I pressed the trunk button on my key and I would be able to close it with a single finger without even touching the outside of my trunk.
