Lexus Link error bypass

Lexus Link error bypass
I just bought an 01 LS430 that has that annoying lexus link error message every time I start the car. I have searched this out, but I have read a few different descriptions of how to do this. Since it involves crossing wires, I just want to be sure IM doing it right.
I know where the two plugs are to the system in the trunk. I have read to "X" the plugs, and I have read to cross one set and leave the other unplugged.
Here is what I have....the inner plug has a male end up top, female below...the outer plug has a female up top and a male on the bottom. So obviously "X" ing them together wont work, I would have male on male and female on female. While IM down with the female on female, it aint gonna work here.
What I did was take the outside plug lower male end and hook it up to the inside plug lower female end. I have no error and the speakers all work. AM I good to go, or do I need to loop the top two plugs together as well, or just leave them un plugged?
Just want to be sure Im not losing a function Im not aware of, or even worse burning something up by looping the wrong ones.
Thanks

Lexus Limited Service Campaign 4LA has simple (DIY) instructions on how to bypass the Lexus Link ECU. You may also replace the glasses holder above the console (with one that has no Lexus Link buttons), but is not required to disable the Lexus Link audio message at start-up. The glasses holder runs about $40. It was a limited service campaign that ended several years ago - dealers are no longer required to perform the Lexus Link bypass service pursuant to the 4LA Campaign.
