Hi, I am new to the forum. I just purchased a 2001 Lexus LS430 UL package with 87,500 miles in Midnight Pine Pearl for 10K. It included 20" MRR wheels w/ brand new tires.
Timing belt and water pump was done in July 13'. Has 2 previous elderly owners. Has a clear car fax and is a very clean vehicle overall for the age. Just a few minor things I need to do to make it perfect. There seems to be many of these out there with a wide array of pricing from 15K to some under 10K. I know this is very low mileage for this vehicle and year, but what is it actually worth, prices seem to be all over the board.
I was just wondering if this is a good deal? At first I was taken back by the year, but it didn't look like a car that would be a 2001. I will say these LS430's were ahead of their time.
Many of you seem to be very knowledgeable about these vehicles as I have been looking at info on this forum since I started to consider buying it.
This is my first Lexus and I wanted to check with the pros if I got a good deal or not and what you all have to say about these cars. I will be giving this to my wife and our child will be riding in it so want to make sure it's a good buy.
Thank you and look forward to being a member of your online community!

decent buy! all i can see is that headlights are a bit hazy, but less than on mine (2001).
interior looks great, steering wheel not that worn.
dunno about huge rims tho - they can ruin the suspension faster. i'd sell 20s to some kids and stick to 18 max (preferably original alloys or ones from 04+ - i have these).
ps. i love usa... that rural landscape made me cry a little =(

Welcome to the club... I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Price was not bad...
Timing belt is due at 90K so that maintenance is coming up soon.
And the ride will certainly protect the wife and child very comfortably...
That was a good choice.
Enjoy...

I paid $9500 plus tax and fees for my 01 a couple weeks ago and it has 120k miles but maintained by Lexus dealer every 5k it's entire life. It is parchment crystal (pearl white) exterior and cashmere interior. For whatever reason this color combo seems to be going for more $$ around here so even with the mileage I think I did okay. Yours looks very clean just like mine
. How do those 20s ride? I still have the stock 16", but putting 18" on there tomorrow with some Goodyear Eagles. I'd say you did good if it was a dealer purchase but could be a little cheaper if private sale. Have you checked out mylexus.com to look up the service history?

I think you did well. 4 years ago I paid $11,800 for a 2001 ML LS430 with Nav and 98,000 miles. It was all original with no paint work and the timing belt changed. It's nice to see that the earlier models are still bringing around $10,000. I think the 04-06 models have dropped the most in the last 4 years as would be expected. I'm thinking of upgrading to an 04+ since the difference in pricing can be closer to $5,000 when it was more of a $10,000 difference years ago. The nice thing about owning the early LS430s is that they have depreciated out. They will always be worth $7500 no matter how many miles or the age if kept in good condition. Good luck with your car. It looks great!

I have been looking for a clean low mile UL LS430 for several years now and I have yet to see one with under 100k miles for anywhere near that price you paid. For those saying it's just a decent deal, you guys are crazy. That was an outstanding deal you got. I would gladly pay that price if I could find one just like it, there are none to be found within 200 miles from me ever.

When considering UL vs ML and the fact that this is a 13 yr old car with high repair bills should something go wrong, I made the decision to get a ML no NAV due to the air suspension being so expensive to replace, and who needs navigation from over a decade ago. If that Nav screen fails, you not only lose Nav, but a bunch of climate control functions, etc. I was in it for the quality of the car, reliability of the powertrain, and ride comfort, not necessarily more toys (although they are nice to have
. To each his own though, it's definitely a nice ride for a good price either way!
