Use an angled pick to pry off the vertical plastic cover that splits the main window from the quarter window. Then remove same as the front by removing 6 screws and popping 5 panel clips. Lift slightly to free the panel, disconnect the door lock and latch, plus wiring harnesses.

Sorry I'm pulling this from 6 months ago, but do you have a part number for the console latch? Mine is broken, and it won't stay closed, the parts websites are a little confusing.

Depending on the price I may either buy a used, incorrect color lid and replace the leather with one of the aftermarket options, or just the latch and keep my rather worn console lid.

Thanks.

Also, to add something to the thread, I got the car yesterday, at this point I replaced a burned out bulb in the rear which got rid of the stupid red triangle on the dash. The previous owner told me he had a shop look at it and they couldn't figure out why the light was on, but it was just a bulb? Next few things on the list are, center console latch, cup holder (both arms are broken off) and I may do an oil change for peace of mind.

Hope you guys are having a good day.

I'll have to fish out the invoice for the part. You are right, it's a hard to find part just searching parts diagrams on on-line Lexus parts sites. if I understand the issue correctly, you don't need to buy the whole armrest assembly. All you need is the latch, which is not interior colors specific. If the two screws for the latch are missing, you will need those, too. In my case, after trying to find the parts on-line, I went to my local dealer and told the parts guy what I needed. He ordered the latch and the screws, and the parts arrived in a couple days. There' not much to the part, just a small bit of plastic with a spring or two, but it's not cheap. The local dealer hosed me about $81 for the latch which can be had on-line if you know the part number for about $47.00. However, not having the arm rest fly up every time you lift your elbow from it is priceless. With parts in hand, it was an easy fix for me. It took all of about a minute.

I believe the part number is 58971-50010-A1.

The latch that holds the center console arm rest down is a different part that is not interior color specific.

Thank you!

Let me know if you can dig up the part number, it would be very helpful.

I noticed the screws are still in there, which makes me wonder if it was purposely removed.

It drives me crazy, cup holder is next.

I bought my 2005 earlier this summer and it was minus the roof antenna. New from the dealer is $160 so this little carbon fiber unit will have to do until I can find a used stock antenna.

I believe that antenna is designated for Lexus Link.
The radio antennas (and I think the navigation one, too) are in the C-pillar.

Did my 92k service yesterday. Changed the oil, knocked all the dead bugs out of the air filter, and cleaned the MAF. Finished the oil change and cleaned out the filter super quick, then proceeded to round out one of the MAF screws cause I was too lazy to grab the PH2 and used a size smaller.

Tried the easy out this morning which didn't do anything save for chew the head of the bolt up. Ended up taking a drill to the head to clean it up then hammered a t20 torx bit into it. Had some stainless steel screws lying around from a different project and swapped those in. m4x8mm for anyone that needed them.

hi,
Been a long time since I posted on this forum.. but car is approaching 200k miles. Just did the major tune up with timing belt kit and water pump and all fluids replaced. But then i needed new brake pads too so decided to change out the rotors as well.
braking improved a lot... but honestly, I just did it for the look and something different. My car is 2004 LS430 UL.

here's the pictures.

Next weekend I decided to take care of my car’s driveshaft. These parts were never replaced and last time when I was working on dampers I noticed cracks in the rubber all over, something similar to LCa bushings cracks which I noticed when I purchased the car.

I ordered Two Rubber Flex discs which attach to transmission and differential, and in between I ll install the new central bearing. All OEM parts ordered from Amayama - savings exceed around 200 dollars or so compared to ordering from the dealer - isn’t it ridiculous?

Dear experts, how difficult it is to remove the central bearing knowing there is a dust deflector there (aka rear wheel bearing nightmare, if anyone did it), and does the whole driveshaft slide through to the back without removing exhaust?

I mean it's honestly not hard to take the entire shaft off, like a hour or two at worst if the exhaust doesn't fight at the front. I would get the car at least 2 ft in the air and drop the exhaust totally off from the cats back so you can easily get the driveshaft off and not need to navigate around anything

Bought two cases of T-IV trans fluid since the advance near my house had two cases the manager didn't want, paid $4.70 a QT all told and was a hell of a deal. I have ATF for personal use squared away for a good while now
