Wow! @ls430w140 that looks great! I will bet you feel like you have a new car. I did not even think about ventilation; I would want to preserve that.
If I was you, I would just sit in the passenger seat and look at it. Haha, I love these cars.
Replaced the right rear UCA. The original UCA had one bushing slightly torn and the other had minor cracks. No more clunking, but I believe that was mainly from the bolts being under-torqued even though I torqued them to spec last time. I went 15 over the 67 ft lbs spec so hopefully they stay tight. Still waiting for the Megan Racing adjustable control arms to be back in stock.
I don't have any knowledge about the process they use to manufacture the foam pad. I owned W140 before and used to drive older escalade quite often. You don't have to be an engineer to notice that other luxury cars of similar years may feel more comfortable at the seat level. Here is what i learned:
- The specialist removed the older pad and installed the new factory one that i supplied to him. He said the pad is not in the bad condition, but became too soft. I confirmed that it does require much less effort to compress it compared to the new part.
- The new pad moderately increased the height of the seat level - for the better i guess. Seat adjustment can always be made to avoid touching the ceiling.
- No need for any aftermarket parts whatsoever - neither as the top layer nor as the replacement of the base pad. OEM is best as always.
- The new pad is firmed and softer at the same time - now feels like sitting in the air. The density of the new OEM pad is exactly what is needed in this application. Side support is now noticeable as well, especially during turns.
That looks really good. I've been really needing to overhaul the driver's seat on mine. Small tear developed from sitting down with a tool in my pocket a little while back. Patched it with clear poly tape which stopped the tear from getting bigger but it's an eyesore. The foam in the seat is also completely shot. It's pretty fatiguing on longer drives, upwards of 2 hours. It's too soft and doesn't have any support left. Like how a really soft sofa is comfortable for the first couple of minutes then becomes difficult to sit on cause it's too soft; I think that's what's happening here. My passenger cushion is pretty firm comparatively which is what I think I need.
Seeing that the new cushion added some bolstering makes me want a new seat pad even more. I've gotten a second car now with a proper full height racing seat and it's been life changing. With this leather seat, you're really fighting to keep yourself in the seat which is all you focus on. With that other seat, all your attention can be focused on driving, though, kinda comparing apples to oranges here lol.
I got told by my dealer that hey need to do a brake inspection before then can do an alignment for some reason? I'm confused as to why considering I recently (car is on a lift with them now) put new brakes on.....

Just dealer stuff I guess.
Usually they have set of inspections they perform, if its serviced for alignment they do check certain units. Make sure to check and know the condition of your brakes so they don't try to "mix up" anything.
My brothers car has 25k miles on 2018 honda pilot and they wanted to do timing belt change because it was due. Later apologized saying it got "mixed up" with other car' mileage.
Some dealerships love fishing, they throw in BS repairs and someone always bites.
So always know condition of your car if you take it to the dealership.

Ah, well they probably hate me then. I do everything myself except alignments or if I'm lazy and the book time is so low it's not worth me racking the car
Started the process to upgrade the brakes. The car needs a brake job (pads and rotors) anyway so decided to get the calipers painted, aftermarket rotors, pads, SS brake lines, and flush and replace the brake fluid. Will take 2-3 weeks as parts had to be custom ordered.

Purchased the caliper decals as well......
Will keep this thread updated as events unfold.
Pay very close attention to the brake caliper bolt TQ specs. Don't ruin a knuckle like someone did on my car

Which brand did you go with for the brake lines? I’ve been wanting to get some.
I got the Osram bulbs installed and they look great. I need to make some adjustments to how my headlights are aimed properly.
I haven’t done much night driving lately. It’s crazy how terrible my GS’ headlights are. It made me quit driving at night until I could get the new bulbs for the LS ordered.
