@bjchilds1 , I am so sorry. I just moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and when you emailed we got hit by a storm and the was covered in over 6 inches. Then I had the move and a lot going on. Anyway, here are the pics. Forgive any different coloring. all my bulbs are OEM, no LED or other alterations. Note the light in the small socket when the headlamps on are on.

Holy Shnikes, @designdude , nice ride! That is rare, Flint Mica on Ecru. Beautiful! Looks like every possible option including the Napa leather upgrade.

Started the timing belt and valve cover gasket job today. There are some writings in paint marker on the camshaft, not sure if that is done during assembly. Most of the bolts did not look disturbed so I'm pretty sure the valve cover gaskets and timing belt are original. Alot of the wiring loom and wiring plastic retainers are crumbling into pieces so I will be relooming and using zip ties to secure the harnesses.

Been busy these last two weeks but reassembly is mostly done. Replaced thermostat, cam and crank seals, water pump, timing belt, pulleys and tensioner, valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals, spark plugs, pcv valve, vacuum hoses and reloomed the crumbling wire harnesses and three broken connectors that also fell apart. Tomorrow I turn the key.

Well, its running, much quieter but there was a tick from the intake camshafts after shutdown. Took it to a Lexus independent and they said not to worry about it, probably heat expansion and should go away with more miles. So I guess the job is done. Degreased the engine bay top and bottom to get rid of the gunk build up. Project for the summer is replacing engine and trans mounts.

Took it to my Lexus dealership for a drain and fill of transmission fluid. Had a 2020 UX200 loaner and was not impressed.

My timing belt is due to be replaced next year and I keep going back and forth between doing it myself and taking it to the dealer. Would be my first time doing a timing belt...how long do you think just the timing belt, water pump, and cam/crank seals would take (I've done the others already)? I was planning to allocate 3 full days (9-5).

How many miles does the engine have?

Crank seal is pretty easy, just remove timing belt, crank sprocket, and then pry the crank seal out without scratching the crankshaft or housing bore. Then install the new seal with a big socket or a dedicated seal driver. Replacing the cam seals requires the cams come out of the heads and be disassembled on the work bench. If you've never done a timing belt at all, that probably won't be enough time for this undertaking.

I'm at 140K right now, the timing belt and water pump were last done at 89K in 2014. I'm guessing I can probably skip the cam seals given my mileage?

Honestly, I wouldn't even do the belt/pump, recommended interval is every 9 years/90,000 miles so you should be good for at least another 1 to 2 years depending on when in 14 it was changed. But if you do go ahead, at that mileage if the seals aren't currently leaking, you're probably fine. I've seen some people recommend or choose to replace their seals at the second scheduled replacement at 180,000 miles and others say leave it until it leaks.

I agree with Bacon, wait until 180K and do the seals. I only replaced the cam seals because the passenger cam bearing cap that goes on top of the seal was leaking so it had to be resealed with new RTV. So doing the cam seals made sense.

In terms of difficulty of this job, it's not easy. Alot of things to keep track of and the camshaft have to handled carefully. I would have glady paid the $2k the Lexus independent told me it would cost if they did it.

My car is running fine since the job, so far I've driven 700 miles. I plan to change the oil again next Friday just to check and put the bottom engine bay cover back on.

Thanks. With suspension being sorted, just need to the engine mounts to mechanically restore this car.

I replaced both of my ballasts today with a friend of mine I worked with at Lexus. Even with his knowledge it was still a major hassle routing the new ballasts inside the light but we got it done. The old ones were completely corroded and very nasty.

My passenger ballast has been blown since early last summer and I just drove the GS or F-Pace around at night. It’s so nice to be able to drive the car at night again and get to finally use my new Osram Cool Blue Boost bulbs.

I also found out my front driver side coilover is leaking pretty bad now. Hopefully I can replace the Megan’s with custom BC’s or Fortune Autos. I don’t drive as much so it should be okay for now while I save up.
