Ordered a set of used rear calipers. I'm going to get them powder coated. The paint coating I've used just doesn't last and I'm tired of my calipers looking like crap. Found a clean set to send off along with a new OEM seal kit so this way, there will be no downtime. Also going back to OEM rotors and pads as while I was happy with the Centric rotors, they've warped pretty bad and I get a lot of vibration and feedback trough the brake pedal under heavy braking.
Torn on the color though. Either glossy red, glossy black, or gold. I have the red BBS caps on my wheels so that is a pop of color. I don't want anything too crazy and won't be doing any decals on the caliper. Leaning towards red...

I think gold would look good. Looked good on the R34 GT-R as well as the STI. Might end up flipping a coin.
Beauty part of powder coat is there are so many colors. I ordered a bunch of color swatches from Prismatic Powders awhile back to help with the decision making process....
Today I finally saved up enough to get some michelins for my new rims. I couldn't find the UL 5 spoke rims for a good used price so I bought the OE replica rims. everything fit really well except for the front caliper clearance, I got away with 2mm shim spacers to get a little breathing room. I also went to auto zone right afterwards to get a new lug nut for that rear tire right after this pic . That was definitely the cheapest part of the wheel/tire job...

are you saying the replica wheels didn't clear or were closer than you were comfortable with?
Had to change the front wheel bearings this week. They were done (the right side mainly). After 20 years and 110k miles (180k km). I replaced the upper control arms in 2022. Roads in Quebec are unforgiving.
I am still impressed with this car.
Go out to the garage and hear a loud beep, sounds like it's coming from my LS430. Lock it, unlock it, verify all doors are closed, start it, run it, turn it off and BEEP. Like every 45 seconds it gives one beep that sounds like it's coming from the car.
Long story short, it was coming from my Chamberlain garage door opener. It was beeping to tell me that the backup battery has died and needs replacement. Whew.
A few days ago I had a funny occurrence with my 430.
I recently got married. I'm in New England and my spouse was from the west coast until she moved here. So she just sold her car since I had two (an '05 LS and '06 4Runner). I have a habit of driving the 430 to work so I just gave her the keys to the 4Runner and everything was fine. Last week, I decided to ride my bike to work so I said "feel free to drive the Lexus today if you want" and left the keys on the counter. When I got home, I was met with a Grinch-like grin and saucer-like eyes, and she pleaded with me to just swap cars permanently. "It's sooooooo smooth!! It's sooooo easy to drive!!! The Lexus is more of a girl's car anyway, wouldn't you agree?"
Hahahaha I did not agree. But she uses the Lexus whenever possible now. The only thing is that it takes about an hour for the driver's seat to adjust from her position to my position -- she is 5'0 and I am 6'2.
Moral of the story: never allow yourself to be manipulated out of your LS430, no matter how cute and sweet the pleader might be!
