What did you do to your LS430 today?

The front end is a little quieter but there is still a little noise over rough pavement but no perceptible performance change. I've ordered upper and lower control arms and ball joints from Rock Auto which I'll be putting in next weekend. I don't feel any jolt over the bumps but I want a silent front suspension. I should have done it all at once. The car has 160,000 miles.

Replaced front upper and lower control arms and ball joints. I used Mevotech arms and Moog ball joints from Rock Auto. Total cost with shipping - $350. The Mevotech arms come with front and rear bushings. A complete bushing set for both existing arms would have saved $80 but then I would have had to deal with extracting old bushings and pressing in new ones, so it was money well spent. Of the parts that came out only the upper arms were in pretty rough shape, with bad bushings and easy movement in the ball joints. The lower arm bushings weren't too bad but had a few small surface cracks and the ball joints didn't have play but were easy to manipulate. The front suspension is finally quiet and steering feels good. I need to get an alignment tomorrow and do a freeway road test. I bought the car a little over a month ago and finally have all the mechanical issues dealt with.

Checked coolant level. There is coolant in the radiator but the reservoir was empty. I added distilled water for now. Will watch to see if there is a leak or just evaporation.
Radiator will be flushed and filled at 90 K.

washed her by hand on Wed.., and she's been sitting since Thu. nite. Likely will get to sit all weekend. The LS430 deserves to rest although in a way she's a work horse that has a long way to go. I finally consistently see 14 mpg as my commute is all city (avg mph 12-15 mph). Coincidentally 14 mpg was after my plug change. Mean that seriously I think coincidence, others probably say counterfeit Densos lol (there are YouTubes where a guy said that)
The other day I renewed the XM for another 5 mos. This is the 3rd time after a 2 mo free used car trial. The rate is $5/mo. but with taxes and fees it works out to $32.xx--I tell them I only want to pay $20 out the door after taxes and fees and they adjust it. Yes, it's not worth $4/mo. but I figure I pay more than that a day for the bridge toll. But without Yacht Rock and a Skynyrd channel, all that's left is Grateful Dead and The Bridge, and no that's not really worth $4/mo. but I do it anyway. in life everything is negotiable, William Shatner taught me that.

Celebrating two years of ownership today. Only put about 5,000 miles on it in those two years. Still, I love the car and it is a real joy to drive.

Pulled out my MAF and gave it several healthy squirts of CRC MAF cleaner. Also beat out the air filter a little as well.
Why did I decide to clean the MAF? Well... Once the engine was at full operating temp, at idle there would be the ever so slightest bit of vibration, at around 2500-3000 rpm during acceleration, there was a tiny bit of pinging from time to time, and lastly, the upshifts were starting to get a little more noticeable that they probably should be.
After cleaning, completely silky smooth idle, both in park and in gear, upshifts are near seamless again, and pinging is greatly reduced but still present from time to time.
I want to figure out the pinging issue. It's nothing major, but it shouldn't be doing it at all, especially with 93 octane.
Overall, a success.

installed the USA SPEC bt45 toy bluetooth adapter and mic. now my audio books sound way better than they did with the cassette deck adapter i had before. install was pretty straight forward. hardest part was running the mic cord back from the A pillar. and that was pretty easy.
