So at 2 in the morning, I decided to go out to the garage and install the new ECU. I jumped the OBD2 to let the ECU "learn" my keys for 30 minutes. Afterwards, pulled the jumper and gave it a go, and... It cranked right up! My girlfriend hopped in for a nice little night drive around the baron roads here in town.
First off, in the remapped "Normal" mode, improved throttle response and power is definitely noticeable. It feels very much like the stock "Power" mode, only a little fresher and a little meaner. You can certainly feel that there's a little more oomph and life present over the stock "Power" mode, and definitely considerably more than the stock "Normal" mode.
Speaking of the "Power" mode, that's the one where all the magic happens. Greatly improved throttle response, so much so that sometimes it's a bit touchy. If you're not careful, when you leave off from a light, you're liable to snap your neck. LOL Also, under moderate throttle input, once the car shifts into 2nd, it feels like the throttle is increased more, like stabbing the throttle again. A bit on the aggressive side. Odd, but doable.
Extra power?... Well it could be more of the effects of the increased throttle response, but it does in fact feel quicker in 1st through 3rd gear. Once you get past 80 mph, it really doesn't feel much different from stock. Maybe there's a little extra oomph there, but it's hard to tell via butt dyno. There's definitely seems to be more torque, especially in the sub-60 mph range, which is nice and is perfect for city driving.
Lastly, in "Power" mode, up-shifts are improved. Not only are they quicker, you can also feel them. Down-shifts are also quicker and sharper. Not drastically so, but again, noticeable.
All in all, for the little bit of money spent, it's a good upgrade and I would do it again. I would say it's worth the money... Short of doing a full stand-alone computer.
And just because, a few pics...

Snappier shifts and better low-end have got me real interested.

Got a new set of Michelin Premier installed a few weeks ago and so far I'm a happy camper.
Just wanted to give a quick update because a few people have been asking: amp/sub installation is now 11 months old and still sounds awesome.
Check video link below for subwoofer test/sample. A little flex action from an 8 inch sub.

Obviously not.
Well my post was a "write-up". But do plan on a long term review as well.

I know that Russians actually have decent specialists who could figure out the appropriate tuning, plus there is a company in Moscow which installs our 3uz-fe engines in various cars, including larger vehicles. They know these engines from inside out.
My thing is that I decided to go with apexi throttle unit instead because I needed flexibility - i can’t be more than happy to realize that when I need a nice drive i switch to red throttle mode, but when I need super comfort ride I go with a blue light which converts the acceleration into a really soft mode. it’s just fantastic.

I think what he did is that he sent his ecu to Moscow for a rebuild. They likely installed new firmware, resoldered some components and had a nicely tuned product ready for shipment.

That Apexi you have does nothing more than adjust how quickly the throttle operates, which can feel nice, but it does not add any power. But it is nice to be able to adjust it on the fly if you want to.
The name of the company is ALL4SWAP. Just do a Google search for that and it will pull up a couple sites, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. His name BTW is George.
To me, it was easily worth the 300 bucks.

The cost is $150 for the ECU and $150 for the tune, and a few extra bucks here and there for different options. The claimed gain is 10% power and torque, so of stock is 290hp and 320 ft lbs, the new numbers should theoretically be roughly 320hp and 350 ft lbs. Via my butt dyno, there's definitely more power on tap, but how much I don't know. I'll have to find someone with a dyno and take both ECU's with me so we can swap them out to see what kind of power increases there really are
