First off, in the remapped "Normal" mode, improved throttle response and power is definitely noticeable. It feels very much like the stock "Power" mode, only a little fresher and a little meaner. You can certainly feel that there's a little more oomph and life present over the stock "Power" mode, and definitely considerably more than the stock "Normal" mode.

Speaking of the "Power" mode, that's the one where all the magic happens. Greatly improved throttle response, so much so that sometimes it's a bit touchy. If you're not careful, when you leave off from a light, you're liable to snap your neck. LOL Also, under moderate throttle input, once the car shifts into 2nd, it feels like the throttle is increased more, like stabbing the throttle again. A bit on the aggressive side. Odd, but doable.

Extra power?... Well it could be more of the effects of the increased throttle response, but it does in fact feel quicker in 1st through 3rd gear. Once you get past 80 mph, it really doesn't feel much different from stock. Maybe there's a little extra oomph there, but it's hard to tell via butt dyno. There's definitely seems to be more torque, especially in the sub-60 mph range, which is nice and is perfect for city driving.

Lastly, in "Power" mode, up-shifts are improved. Not only are they quicker, you can also feel them. Down-shifts are also quicker and sharper. Not drastically so, but again, noticeable.

All in all, for the little bit of money spent, it's a good upgrade and I would do it again. I would say it's worth the money... Short of doing a full stand-alone computer.

And just because, a few pics...

That's awesome! Wouldn't mind a write-up on this... or maybe a long-term review?
Snappier shifts and better low-end have got me real interested.

Check video link below for subwoofer test/sample. A little flex action from an 8 inch sub.

Looks cool. You have a write up on this somewhere? I searched and can’t find one.

Well my post was a "write-up". But do plan on a long term review as well.

I'm confused, what exactly did you do then? Replace the stock one with another stock one? How did you gain anything from that?

I think what he did is that he sent his ecu to Moscow for a rebuild. They likely installed new firmware, resoldered some components and had a nicely tuned product ready for shipment.

I know that Russians actually have decent specialists who could figure out the appropriate tuning, plus there is a company in Moscow which installs our 3uz-fe engines in various cars, including larger vehicles. They know these engines from inside out.

My thing is that I decided to go with apexi throttle unit instead because I needed flexibility - i can’t be more than happy to realize that when I need a nice drive i switch to red throttle mode, but when I need super comfort ride I go with a blue light which converts the acceleration into a really soft mode. it’s just fantastic.

It has been flash tuned. Yes, it's a stock ECU but not the stock tune.

Tell me more, how much, from who, and how much of a gain. This is something I would want to do

Well sort of. He already has the ECU's. It's just a matter of flashing them to whatever you want, within reason of course. He needs to know if you're running a stock car, or a swapped engine project, and if you're running the stock 5-sp or 6sp auto OR a manual. Whether you want the immobilizer active or not (I wanted it active still), and various other parameters. I don't know how much soldering is involved with the tuning for our cars if any. That might be for when our engines are swapped into other vehicles with different transmissions, instrument clusters and such. Not sure though.

That Apexi you have does nothing more than adjust how quickly the throttle operates, which can feel nice, but it does not add any power. But it is nice to be able to adjust it on the fly if you want to.

The cost is $150 for the ECU and $150 for the tune, and a few extra bucks here and there for different options. The claimed gain is 10% power and torque, so of stock is 290hp and 320 ft lbs, the new numbers should theoretically be roughly 320hp and 350 ft lbs. Via my butt dyno, there's definitely more power on tap, but how much I don't know. I'll have to find someone with a dyno and take both ECU's with me so we can swap them out to see what kind of power increases there really are.

The name of the company is ALL4SWAP. Just do a Google search for that and it will pull up a couple sites, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. His name BTW is George.

To me, it was easily worth the 300 bucks.

A little more accurate than the butt Dyno but cheaper than a regular dyno is an app called Torque. It measures acceleration and time to speed and calculates hp and torque knowing the weight of the vehicle.

Well guess that means I have to go 1/4 test my car a few times before this ECU upgrade. Hat way I can see what it does and I'll have a spare ECU in any case for cheap

Plus it will be funny running a stock 430 lol!

Right front power window motor. SUPER easy. Old one was working intermittently.
