Default Scar from driving on So. Cal. Fwy

So driving on the FWY I hit a metal rod... I was driving behind a SUV and all of a sudden see myself driving toward the metal rod. I was thinking about swerving to avoid it but at that speed it may have caused a bigger accident from a fish tale, etc. So i drove right through it. This really sucks as its only been a month since I picked up my car. So as I will be getting this fixed I was thinking about possibly getting the grill painted, leaving the lining and the emblem "chrome" as is but to get the inner plastic piece painted the same Crystal White to match the body. I have done this over a decade ago on an Accord and it looked nice. Has anyone done it to their LS and can share some pics so I can get an idea of how it looks. Lighter colors preferred. Thanks!

Plenty of road hazards, glad your car and you came through fine. That metal rod could have easily been at windshield levels and that could be very bad. Bumper is a better place to have that type of impact. Hood, headlights windshield makes for a day.

Good choice to drive though it..now just have to deal with the pain (money) of fixing something that never really should have been damaged. And why does it seem to always happen when you get a new car...or new to you. Just last week I saw a brand new honda with paper tags on it get swiped by a guy trying to make a left turn from the go straight lane... how do you now hen people are going to drive stupid? We need some kind of warning...

Default Got my car back

Just got my car back and looks better than it was before. On the upside I got the chance to take care of little imperfections that was bothering me. I was debating about painting the grill the same color as my body but my shop owner suggested I go gloss black. I couldn't be any happier. Driving "full size" rentals from Optima and Impala, it just made me realize how I enjoy the plush ride of my LS. Here are some after pics.

Nice car, pearl white is my fav color. Same thing happened to me, but i got real lucky as the metal pipe just slipped under the bumper, and made a loud thump when it passed under the car with no damage.

Thank! Seriously, it would have been a a much different story if it hit my PCS sensor or even worse my hood or windshield.

Thanks. When I was looking for my LS my top 2 color scheme was either crystal white or the Flint. I really like my color as the pearl really stands out. I had hoped the same that i had juat ran over it...There was a loud thump as I ran over it. But unfortunately it got a piece of my bumper and some plastic pieces below. They even had to change out a big vent piece that funnels air to our brakes didn't even know that even existed as that was cracked and it was great for my shop to be so thorough.

Car looks great - agree plastic bumper is the easiest place on the LS430 to take that kind of hit with minimal repair issues.
