sounds like a heck of a deal. There are a lot of posts on the forum about what to check . Tilt steering tends to die. So does the rear sunshade motor. Check all the windows and locks to see if they work right. Test the stereo since the subwoofer tends to crap out. If you hear the compressor turn on a few times that could be a sign of a leaky air strut . Make sure both rear seats still recline, I have one that doesn't anymore. The list goes on and on. Then all the other stuff you would check on any typical used car. See if timing belt was done, check fluids, etc etc

Hearing the air compressor for a short time here and there is normal. If it's on a lot then it could mean there's a leak in the system. You won't really hear it when driving, only while at idle, usually right after you start the car or occasionally while sitting at a red light.

'02 Ultra LS430
I recently purchased an '02 LS430 with the Ultra pkg. It was also the Blue Onyx Pearl with chrome wheels. It has 103,000 with all records from the Lexus dealership here in Toledo, Ohio. When they took the car in on trade they completed the Lexus CPO service, but it was not sold as CPO due to mileage. New pads and rotors installed in Oct. '13, along with battery. New Michelin Primacy A/S tires all the way around. Before taking delivery they installed a new timing belt and water pump. All other service up to date. Exterior in excellent shape with just a few scratches. For a 12 yr. old car I would consider the exterior a 9/10. The interior did have a small wear spot on the drivers left armrest and slight wear on the driver's seat bolster areas where you would slide into and out of the vehicle. Interior is Ecru which is the light tan color. They dyed these two areas also and looks really nice. Rest of interior is cherry. Back seats never used. All options work perfectly. Navigation has not been upgraded. I purchased this vehicle for $12,200 plus Ohio sales tax. No trade in. After looking on Ebay, Craiglist, Cars.com, and Autotrader for nearly 3 months this was the one I decided on. I was much more concerned with condition than the mileage as I have a '00 LS 400 and '99 GS400 both with excess of 180,000 miles. If the normal maintenance is kept up these vehicles will last a very long time. Good luck in your pursuit of the perfect Lexus!

Sounds like a good deal, I just got my 02 UL with 80k miles on Sunday. I paid 12600, it was probably a little bit too high but its a great car and I didn't have to pay for shipping. I was looking at some across country and was going to have to pay over 700 to ship it. Congrats to all the new UL owners!!
