I built a turbo e46 and those guys have figured out the 5 speed ZF box can handle 500+ hp and abuse while drifting a lot.
I’d bet the zf box can handle the torque as well, since the diesel and 5 series manuals are gonna be harder to come by here in the states.
The getrag 5 speed is glass comparatively.
so the zf boxes are completely solid apparebtly especially the diesel ones. I’m pretty sure I said it already but I’m using a 525d manual box which I believe they don’t sell in the us. I’ve got adapter plate which I bought off PMC motorsports along with the flywheel. Ive also bought an Uprated clutch disc from them to put in with the standard pressure plate and bearings. The best part of all this is that it’s honestly not gonna cost more than 1k in parts but the fabrication may Cost a little more. I don’t believe there is a mount made for it id be very surprised if there is but I’m just gonna wing it and see how far we get!
