Clean everything once the old strip is removed
Most of the double sided tape got left behind on the door. If you use your thumb and moderate pressure in an upwards pressing movement, it comes off fairly easy. I also used a plastic razor blade.
Once you get it into the channel, you can just press it down and into place. Where my finger is, you can see that that section looks different because it is not yet seated into place.
The 3M adhesion promoter wipes are great for this. I had some left over from a different project... if you have to buy them, they are spendy... was like $8 for three of them from Amazon. While examining the passenger side during install, I saw that it too has a very small tear and will also need to be replaced. Straight forward job, 15 minutes tops... and most of that was due to the old adhesive being left behind.
For weatherstips 67887 and 67888, do I need clips to replace these?
I just noticed the same issue on my 03. It's the door behind the driver side door.
I am thinking about just using some black sealer from Home Depot. Now knowing the part number and steps, I have options
