Reading this thread makes me wonder about the longevity of the lamps on my 2001. I also run my headlights (and occasionally the fogs) during the day, as I do mainly freeway/highway driving. I'm sure I've passed the 2000 hour mark (heck, I've probably had them on for 1000 hours just in the last 2 years..)
Wondering what, if any difference would be seen with new bulbs..
Oh, and it's blast from the PAST...

For my 2001 LS430 I am replacing my driver's side low beam with the Phillips D2R C1 85126 (Made in Germany). The original bulb was Osram D2R Xenarc 66050 (made in Germany). I believe it lasted 18 years. The Phillips bulb looks identical.
I am having difficulty getting the light into the socket and lined up with the groove. I used the pictures and instructions above. I have tried to practice putting the original light back in place before using the new bulb, but have not been able to get it back in and over the tab. Any suggestions on how best to line up the bulb and get it in the tab? Is the 2001 with the D2R different from the D2S and the later year cars?
Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you RKW for your post. Your instructions were spot on for the change out of both my HID headlamps on my 06 LS 430. I went with the OEM Phillips bulbs made in Germany. $50 each. I suspect they will last a long time as the ones I removed were identical and I think they were original. BTW, the new ones seem much brighter. The old ones were going and I did not notice since the car is new to me.
Best,
Tom

I installed some Osram Cool Blue Boost bulbs a few days ago and love them so far. I need another set of bulbs for my sister’s LS430. I may try Phillips for her car.
