Lord have mercy this is a fun thread.
I'm starting to think that the Mark Levinson audio was really rare on celsiors. I can't seem to find any mark levinson amps in Japan.
So here's my understanding. Please call me out if I'm wrong!
I think Japan moved their TV to digital sometime in the early 90s. There were actually Casio and Seiko watches in Japan with TV antennas.
And I don't think Japan has any laws about showing videos in the driver's field of vision.
In fact, it's relatively common for Japanese cars to have TV and has been for a while.
There's a ton of stuff that they have in Japanese cars we don't have. I think there was a 1980s Honda with a navigation system, if not then definitely by the early 90s.
The first LS460s and Toyota Crown Majestas (which would be like a long wheel base Lexus GS) could be ordered with cell phone integration. I used to work at a cell phone company, and when our employees would go to Japan for business/consulting they'd mention that the executives could start and unlock their Toyotas/Lexii with their cell phones.
And there's was a Crown Majesta with a factory supercharged version of our engine. I think it was rated to 350 horsepower and 400 ft. lbs of torque.
They also had AWD powertrains attached to our 3uz.
Gotta love the wild stuff in Japan!
