filter help australia
Hi all
I am the proud owner of a 2005 lexus ls430 UL.
For some reason Lexus never imported the 2006 or 2007 model to oz and never imported the LS460 in awd mode either.
Back to my problem.
Its time for a few filter upgrades and Lexus here are taking the ****. $400 oz $310 Usd
for the rear cabin filter located in the boot ( trunk ).
Part number 88508-50080 I think.
I also require an engine filter 17801-50030
and front seat filters 88921-50010 - $130 usd EACH!
everything is ludicrously priced.
Does anyone know of anyone in the states that will deliver to australia?
prefer OEM parts.
Help Im desperate.

I found an oem air filter on ebay for $99 a few weeks back I'm pretty sure the seller had another one for sale. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find rear cabin filters or seat filters for cheap enough to warrant doing. Front filters are all over ebay cheap enough if you needed one of those.
There's a seller on ebay called concordlexus that I have purchased engine mounts, driveshaft bearing, and hub bearings from that are from the US that freight to Australia for pretty good prices. You could email them see if they have filters. It's a shame that the site sponsor doesn't offer international shipping.
Sorry if bad formatting, never replied using my phone before.

Here's a suggestion that others on this forum have used. They have purchased home furnace and/or air conditioning filters at a hardware store or home center. Using a sharp knife, remove the existing used paper portion of the filter. Use it as a template and cut a piece of the new filter and fit it in the OEM plastic housing. I used two sided tape to hold it in. It took me a few trys to get it right but the furnace filter was under $10 and had plenty of extra. It worked fine for the seat filters. I have an old unused air cleaner filter that should work fine for the rear A?C filter.
I am a fan of OEM parts as well. In this case, you don't put engine or transmission at risk and the filters have worked great. So, why not? Due to the expense and difficulty of importing, it may be worth a try.

I may look into this furnace filter element though, thanks for the suggestion.

Honestly, I would skip the seat filters completely if I was in your situation. If you really wanted to be **** you could make some of your own with just something like a cut up HVAC filter but other vehicles don't have internal seat filters and it seems to me to make very little sense. I took mine out and no regrets.
Does Australia have crazy laws regarding trade with other countries? Why are these things priced so ridiculously?
If I was in your shoes, I would probably just skip most of these filters except the one for the engine. You could rebuild your AC system for about what it would simply cost you in filters.
