But I got the impression that you can make the a/c more effective but less energy efficient by changing some setting. Ask about it next time you talk to someone with a toyota dealer tool.
Interesting, I'd love to get confirmation on that

AC is one of those things where most places in the US it just isn't a real issue regardless of the car, but in the Southwest you really need something that can throw out ice cubes. I've owned cars where the AC was working "within spec" but just didn't do a good job cooling down the car.

My LS does a fine job, high 40's out of the vents on a 100 degree day, but the ES I owned for some reason just got there quicker.

Bradtank... what color is your LS compared to your ES. I truly think that has something to do with it in the very sunny locations?

You can drop the temperature of the compressor from 40-50 degrees to 32 degrees for more A/C

Here's my 2002 with the Custom Luxury Package at the dealer i bought it at, parked next to my 95' LS which i had traded in a week or so prior to this picture.

The 95' was my first Lexus as well, and i loved it.. however, i had too many cars and traded it, and another one in towards my 430. Got it for dirt cheap for that reason!

Thanks! I never imagined this would be an option.

The only way to access these settings is to use the Toyota Techsteam tool. It's the dealer tool that Lexus/Toyota/Scion use for advanced diagnostics and personalization settings.

I don't want to break the rules of this awesome sight so I won't discuss how to get your own copy (other than the official source) but if you're good with computers, google toyota techstream and read all about it.

My lexus dealer charged me $35 to adjust my LPS settings before I got my own copy of the software. It's really neat stuff, you can use it to program blank keys and change all sorts of things. For instance, I changed how long it my lights stay on after I shut the car off, I had the steering wheel stop doing the auto telescope (to help it last longer), and I changed how my windows open when I hold down the 'unlock' button on my remote.

Read up on the thread I linked to, it illustrates all the personalization details. Figure out what you want and get the Techsteam connected to your car and personalize it. It's awesome! More people should know about it.

Oh the memories.

My first car was a BMW 728i, 1999 (E38).

I see them everywhere in Switzerland and I get very emotional every time. Lots of memories in that car, amazing ride and quality, and much better looking than the Lexus.

It was my daily driver while I was studying in Athens, I was parking it in insane places, and it's the same size as the LS so you can understand the struggle/sense of accomplishment.

I treated that car way worse than it treated me. At some point I think I'll get a short-wheelbase V12 750... E38s are an addiction for sure

I wonder if lowering the temperature like that would wear out the Freon sooner

Freon does not wear out. What causes the AC to loose its cooling affect is either failing components or freon leaking out of the system. Also, if there was any problems with enabling this I am sure it would not be an option to change.

DonMolina great E38. I love this BMW model .

My car before LS430 is Mitsubishi Galant 2,5V6 from 1998.
I have it from 2008. Originaly color was dark green. I painted it with my friend 3 years ago.
