Custom LED High Mount Third Brake Light Module

Custom LED High Mount Third Brake Light Module
I swapped out the high mount third brake light 21-watt filament bulb for a custom-made 30 LED light module on my '06. The light module is expertly engineered, designed and built on a custom printed circuit board with high-quality LEDs as well as resistors and a transistor to control voltage and protect the LEDs for long-life. It installs very easily and fits perfectly in the third brake light housing just behind the red diffuser lens, very literally plug 'n play. (There is polarity with LEDs, so if it doesn't light after being plugged in, reverse the plug-in.) And, there is no tail lamp out warning light on the dash with this LED brake light either.
It looks awesome, and should have been OEM on '04 - '06 LS. When lit, it matches the appearance of the OEM LED tail lights, and provides a more clear, bright, distinct and visible light when the brakes are applied, which is also an upgrade in safety as well. The OEM high mount brake light filament bulb burns out, and before it does, the bulb glass turns black which reduces the brightness. I really like this mod.

That's awesome! But a little spendy for $140.
When I read the title, I thought you did the Bentley's windshield wide 3rd brake light, don't know if that can be executed cleanly...
Props Tom. Can we see some far away night pics?

Thanks. I just installed today so night picks to follow ... I did not pay the ask price

The detail in my pics is no better than the pics in the seller's ad. It is brighter than stock, more uniform light intensity across the entire red diffuser of the third high mount brake light. Looks factory, as it should have been.

Lowest they will go is $120 through ebay. Not really worth it to me cause its a few dollars in parts and a pretty basic circuit. Only thing nice is the board. Probably just build one for myself.

I paid $100. The LEDs are high quality (30 in total) are not cheap, the pcb is custom and must be bought in quantity (not 1) and it's voltage regulated to insure longevity of the LEDs. Not worth my time to design, search for and acquire the parts, then build it. Sure, it's not for everyone, but with all of the unconventional mods folks here spend big $$$$ on, it's a no-brainer.

Almost complete shopping list. Just need: the PCB with that configuration and in that size to fit inside the high mount brake light mount, and the plug in connector. Any particular input / output caps? (The link to LEDs are amber color, need white.)

Hilo, your comment applies to each and every instance a CL member chooses to not DIY a repair, maintenance or mod. Of course many CL members pay dealer or indy prices to maintain, repair or mod. Surely that wouldn't be "worth the price to you" either. Some purchase the parts and have them installed at dealer or indy. Others purchase parts, and DIY install (me). Any time someone doesn't build it or DIY, do you post such a comment saying it's not worth it to you? Really, a $100? You must have nothing else to do.
