Said car was even at a lot where my uncle was one of the big wigs so I got a killer deal. Got the car for $16,900 back in '12, when the list price was nearly 25k. Guess I lucked out!

This is also spot-on. The Lexus SA in Knoxville told me the 430 is by far the best/most popular LS and that "If you traded this car today, it would be gone by day's end." I relocated to Los Angeles and the Beverly Hills SA told me the same thing, and then I even got an offer in the mail from them wanting to buy my car--for a good chunk of change more than blue book value.

I feel honestly that the LS430 was probably the last Lexus (and certainly the last LS model) that was truly special (minus the LF-A). The 430 was the absolute epitome of what Lexus used to stand for (pure, absolute luxury, plain and simple), and back then, Lexus was at the top of its game and hit it out of the park with the 430.
Yes they disappear. Bought my one owner, dealer serviced 04 an hour after it was listed. The dealer immediately had a list of people that wanted to see the car. They got calls for days.

I liked the video but it sort of struck me as an infomercial and did little to back up what they were claiming. It sounded like it's from 2002? I can say this much--I went to a Lexus event, summer 2005, at the Belmont Raceway. Nobody was interested in driving the 2006 LS430, but there were long lines for the GS, SC, IS, and esp. the BMW 330i, which was brand spanking new (they brought it for comparison to the IS). Personally I have never had any interest in the ES and don't remember if folks queued up to drive the ES330.

Since there was no line, I took 2 turns in the LS. It initially struck me as devoid of any road feel, insanely quiet and torquey, and I remember thinking to myself, this is the perfect car, to be driving, in a traffic jam on the Long Island Expressway. I still feel the same way.

Agree. Not very believable. Two people driving from LA to Mammoth Lakes w/ no luggage. Driver chatting away at speed on a race track w/o a helmet. Video trying to give the impression that an LS can dive into corners (watch the body roll). It's not designed to be a Laguna Seca contender. A base LS is a super comfortable and very competent highway car.
