I had one on a previous vehicle. I just don't think it really makes a difference, the messiest part for me is usually changing the oil filter.
My biggest issue though was the way it stuck out. I doubt it happens very often, but I was worried a big speed bump or some road debris was going to knock it off the oil pan and drain my engine.
I could see it making sense if you say had a fleet of cars to maintain and there were constant oil changes, but opening the drain and putting a new crush washer only adds like 30 seconds to the job and it also allows it to drain much quicker.
This tool I got has really been nice, it's magnetic and allows you to hold on to the plug while you unscrew it so you don't have to fish for it or have hot oil run down your arm.
I lost my nipples. Each and everyone of them- gone...
If you want to do a an oil sample, simply wipe the nipple off before you drain fluid. Having the Fumoto is very nice to drain the oil from low sitting cars. I can literally reach under my IS350 and open the valve without jacking the car up.
well if you dont jack it up, where do you place the oil pan to collect the oil?

I think the point that the infamous nipple-less oil changer is making is he DOESN'T use an oil pan. He places the drain TUBE from the Fomoto valve into a collection canister of some sort. Not a traditional pan. Although a traditional pan pepperoni pizza from Pizza $lut sounds really good right about now.
I think the Fumoto is not needed and adds a layer of insecurity for me, especially with the possibility of a failure with the valve. While researching MB e430's I found that they put the oil filter right on top under the hood for easy replacement and that many people were pumping the oil out from the dip, or mostly MB mechanics were. They don't have to get under the car at all. I drove the 1999 MB e430 AMG sport(supposedly the last of the very good German made MB's) and was SUPER surprised with the handling and sportiness .. made me want one and made my LS seem like less of a car! Couldn't believe it. That thing is fast and handles awesome. Anyway, still love my LS.
