solar charger
When we go on holidays for several weeks and park the car at the airport, I have a small solarpanel that keeps the battery topped off. It is plugged into the cigarette lighter.
Would this work with the LS also?

I don't think so.
If I am not mistaken the cigaret liter is desconnected when the ignition is off. So the power will not reach the battery.
On thing you can do is plug a phone charger when the ignition is off if it charges then you should.
If there is no power when ignition is of you can chang that by reroting it to alive pier from the battery. Maby throw the fuse box.
I will let the Lexus expert comment on that.

This may be a longshot. You may be able to find a cable that has connectors to fit the battery terminals on one end and a female cigarette lighter connection on the other. The battery tenders and new style chargers (like the C-tek) use similar accessory cables.
Your other option is wiring one of the cigarette lights directly to a unswitched fuse terminal. Beyond my expertise but possible. Otherwise, a ride or Uber to the airport and keep the LS in the garage with a battery tender connected. Just a thought.

Do what I do. Grab the pliers from the case in the trunk and take the negative connection off of the battery.
And close the car with key using the metal fob manually. Once your back from your trip, open the door again with the metal fob and pop the hood, connect the negative back again and your car will work no problem.
I left my car at the PDX airport once for 4 months, came back and plugged the battery and worked like a charm.

thanks for the tips
got myself a battery shut-off switch. I has a removable ****, no monkeying around with the pliers. Plus, with the **** removed they cannot start the car no matter what (other than installing another battery of course)
