airsuspension - again
#2
I just had this done on my car, I had mechanic just remove air struts and replace with oem coils.....do not touch the air compressor or height sensors as that will set off warnings on your dash, if you search the forum you will find a lot of information on it. Good Luck.

I saw that advise before, my question was : will the dash light up if I REMOVE the compressor. Somebody showed interest in an aircompressor. Since I change over to co I have no more use for the compressor, but obviously will keep it if it lights up

airsuspension - again
Just pull the fuse for the airsuspension ---
yeah, which one? I looked in the Owner's Manual for the 01 LS430, on page 368 (engine compartment) there is a diagram with numbers for the fuses. The top row starts with fuse # 53, 54, 55, 56, 57,THEN 57 again, then 59.
Is there a printing mistake? where is 58 exactly?
Also I found another AIRSUS fuse # 7 which is located in the driver's side kickpanel. Is this fuse applicable to disengage the compressor?
Another question came up from the mechanic: Can the tophats from the air be used for the Bilstein coilovers? Or do I have to order the hats for the sport struts application?
Are the heightsensors controlling the heightsettings for the lights?
Are they being activated when there is a difference between the rear height and the front height of the vehicle but NOT when the car is level on all 4 corners?

Look at post 130. It tells you. It's a 40 amp under the hood. Or just disconnect the compressor.

Just unplug the compressor, why remove it. Someday if you sell it someone may want it on the car.
Its all easy stuff. Since you don't want the compressor running all the time, either look at the diagrams in the covers for the fuse boxes for the correct
fuse to remove. Or find the compressor and unplug it and that is way simpler than removing it. Unplugging it would be the same as removing it.
If any lights are on for the suspension and you don't like it. Remove them too. The removing of the fuse should eliminate the lights on deal.
The proper fuse should be shown on the diagram on the inside of the fuse box cover. And maybe your car has multiple fuse boxes, I don't know about that. If you don't know where they are go to your Lexus dealer and ask to see the shop manuals, you may have to fight to see the information but they will at some point let you see it. Or just ask them to show you where the fuse boxes are.
The top hats are just covers with the control units for the struts, the cover can be reused or removed your choice, I'd keep all the parts on that you can. It will add more value when you go to sell the car.

somebody might want to buy the compressor. New ones are ca $1400. I have no intention to sell the car.
Found two fuses marked with AIR. Will try # 58 first and see.
The Bilstein coilovers do not come with a topplate. Is there something to fasten the struts? Like a shocktower I had in the bimmer
take a look at the setup - google Bilstein B14 coilover and you will see

More info about the conversion:
I have not found any detailed info about what parts need to be purchased to make the conversion possible. All that is mentioned is - just pull the fuse and change the struts, very simple
Not so
You need all the parts from the regular suspension. Like tophats, rubberboots, bumpstops, washers, nuts - and that on all 4 corners.
Not as cheap as it sounded. Better be prepared to add a few hundred bucks to your shocks and springs
I will still go thru with it. If the shop allows I will record the exact details of the work involved.
