Default Key is not detected Lexus Ls400 2004

Hello,

I have a 2004 ls400 that will not start. The key fob will unlock the doors and activate the mirror lights but won't unlock via the sensor on the door handle. I have tried deactivating the smart key system and the car just simply doesn't start. I have tried starting it with the metal key and it gives me the same "key is not detected". I can't get the car started whatsoever, so any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

It may be either the wheel needs to be turned slightly to engage the key lock or the key itself needs to be paired to the car again. Not sure about the later but try turning the wheel slightly while turning the key.

Thank you for your response.

If it were a matter of the steering wheel being locked, would the "key is not detected" still pop up on the dash?

Also, how would I re-pair the key to the car?

Have you tried replacing the remote battery?

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention this but I did replace the battery which didn't change anything.

Do you have a spare key that works?
