excellent question ...they just had wires coming from the adapter..........one went to pos and the other to neg.......the Pioneer had a push in wire receiver on each tab, hope that made sense. Talking to a guy on ebay right now regarding sub. He is pretty proud of that 10yr old sun faded sub that I will have to re cone.

I wasn't aware there were any outfits that are willing to re cone a ML subwoofer. I remember when researching this 5 years ago the only outfit that re coned (don't recall the company name) would do every brand speaker except the ML.I orginally refoamed the sub and eventually when the voice coil in the cone went, I replaced with a new OEM sub for $295. The original cone was completely sun bleached from the black color. Where were you able to find a shop?

Im not looking for a shop to re cone. I dont have a sub. I am in the market for a used sub and if I find one I think I will re cone before I install.

i just had an experience with this that i wanted to share. I bought the Polk Audio db840DVC and followed a DIY on installation and everything went fine when i turned it on and tested it but after i put the seats back together i went out for a drive and the speakers would all cut out for a second at a time if i turned it up past like 50%. After some research, i took it back apart today (way less time!) and found that i must have had a brain fart when i wired it. i wired it in parallel instead of series like i intended. I rewired it in series and appears to work great with no cut outs in an hour of driving with the music loud. Hopefully it stays well, but if not, i'll check back in.

Dual voice coil wired in series increased the impedance closer to match the OEM-rated 14-16 ohms for the ML sub. Glad you didn't blow the amp at 4-8 ohms.
