Default Re: Bumper cover repaint

I am not the original owner of my 01 LS430 which I purchased 5 years ago. The entire car has the original factory paint with no signs anywhere of paint work on any metal surface. The millenium silver paint on both the front and rear bumper covers (previous owner repaint) is starting to discolor and I'm pretty particular even on this old timer. What would be a fair price to repaint both bumpers which I know is 3 stage paint? Both bumper covers are going to require some additional work for very minor dings from the previous owner. Of course I want the paint to come close to matching although I know it most likely wasn't right on even when new as paint on plastic shows differently than paint on metal surfaces. Thanks all.

I seem to remember hearing $400 per bumper at Lexus. You likely can get them done for $200-250/per if you shop around. Paint will be close but will never be perfect match as its paint on plastic as opposed to metal. The difference in substrate effects how even identical paint will look. A good shop can get it close enough. If you look hard at brand new cars with factory paint the plastic painted parts can be way off but no one notices.

Went to lexus and one local independent shop. Both were exactly the same price of a wopping $1550 to repaint both bumpers. It seems there is a chrome strip that needs to be replaced as it comes apart when trying to remove from the bumper. Even at $107 for each strip through Lexus, these prices are stupid high. I will continue going to other independents to try and find a realistic price. These guys are crazy!!!!

I think the other issue impacting color on bumpers is the flex additive they add to the bumper paint to stop it from cracking on the more pliable bumpers. I suspect gray/silver paint shows this more than the very dark and very light colors.

$1550 is crazy high to paint two bumpers. If you live in Florida there should be plenty of other paint shops willing to compete for your business. I read a while back that no other state has more paint and body shops than Florida.

8 -900 bucks easy from a good shop paint is expensive. Figure 60-70 bucks an hour yur right on the chrome strip. Flex additive minimal. Just had front back done
