How are they wearing? How much meat do you have left?

SW did ya ever drive an 04 sport with new sporty tires yur being stubborn, lol. either way fine with how ya feel if you have. I took the turn off the lakeroad today just hummed thru the bridge area and climbed thru the browned Wisco farmland. I thought about a coors lite and how sweet they steer versus 04 Premium 17 inch. Its not like I am racing thru there the steering is precise versus vague
Just me bro. I just have fun pay for it but even if I get 30k they are less$. I will try the Premiums/30 day soon, I do 30 k a year lucky me ...they get harder as ya get older.

I have driven several 04-06 LS vehicles with the sport suspension and the 18" wheels. I would never buy one. It reduces ride quality and the result is a car that still doesn't handle well while not riding as well.

Like I said, if I wanted a sportier car I would buy a car that's character is sportier.

Want to feel sporty? Take a ride in my WRX. Pretty polar to air suspension in the LS.

So SW we can agree to disgree. My driving experience with my Sport, A/S is I give up nothing I would never own a non sport again. Cheers my friend!

The WRX sounds fun, like to drive the Golf R or whichever one they rave about also with a TDI and 8 speed tranny.

I only wish that when people talk about a tire, they specify 17" or 18" because it seems about 50-50 with almost all 2004's on 17" and almost all 2006's on 18" wheels. and then there are a bunch with really big wheels. I am like jpv and looking for the best 17" tire. still have at least a year left on the MXV4's, that every other future tire will be judged against. I only hate them because they are no longer available. When I went back to get a spare to replace my original spare and found out they were discontinued, I got upset with Michelin. had to buy a used tire for a spare...hated that

I truly cannot see any wear! Had MXV4's on my LS400. They were great, these are better! Rotate every 5k.

Finally snow. Not that I need it my hip is ginched skiing out. Back to the X Ice3 and a softer more heavy handed ride. I never felt they handled much different than the MXv4's to tell ya the truth, opening myself to being criticized but no rebuttal I promise.

Even my MXV4's 17's on my Premium and the MXv4's 18's on my Sport where hard to notice the difference. I went back and forth when I bought my Sport with 62k and traded my premium in with 200k when I went on numerous test drives. I think it is testament to the LS having just a solid drivetrain and suspension overall. X ice3 wear well have a 45 k warrantee.

My dealer stores em for me, which is good lifting hurts prolly bring em Manderfields pastry.

Tom57, I will get em to do the Wheel Wax before they put em down for the winter. The X Ice are H rated I think the Bridgy WS 80 are also.

Running the MXV4 Primacy, this is at least my 3rd set if not 4th set. Two sets on the 2001 LS430 and at least 1 if not 2 sets on the RX330.

Don’t know if I am coming back to Michelin’s or not. The 1st set on the 2001 LS did not make mileage and were prorated out at 5/32 and 30,000 give or take. The second set on the LS is doing a little better, current tires installed August, 2014, now 35,000 miles and 7/32 left. The tires are quite and the ride is good, for what I have to compare it to.

2 issues I have - 1.) If the car sits for a few days and its cold out, the tires will flat spot, smooths out after they warm up in a few miles. Within a ½ mile of my driveway I am at highway speeds. 2.) I (well Discount Tires) rotate and balance the tires every 5,000 miles, this last tire rotation went a little longer to 6,500, I was having a heavy pulse when breaking. Just figured I needed to turn the rotors, rotated the tires, 90% of the pulse was gone. That was a first with these tires.

I’m thinking of maybe Continentals. We will see!

The problem that I have heard with Continentals is quality control and them being in round. Lots more issues with road force balance, Etc.

Between X Ice 3 and A/S 3 it is night and day, just got the A/s 3 this summer. I have had the $ Crosscontacts LX20 on my Touareg, 18" Contacts I have on the Treg for winter(20's just too wide) and Ecoplus 20 on my Highlander, soon to be gone. The DWS has been redesigned and it was always a pretty good tire. Always been solid tires never had a balance problem but on other tires SW you may be right. I think they upped their game have the same 30 day warrantee Michelin does tirewear is average to fair Touaregs eat tires.

A/S 3 will be getting protated for sure like you all said I will just keep buying em, X ice 3 is wearing like iron.

Zap, If you're thinking about Contis, look at Toyo Versado Noir also. I researched Contis to death. Even owned them (DWS) previously. Went to buy them and got talked into Toyo Versado Noir. Not going to go on about them in this thread but search my posts. I just got them recently so I obviously cant speak about longevity but they are hands down the best all season tire in the snow I've ever ridden on. Seeing as you're from Colorado that would likely be important. I replaced my MXV4's that had plenty of tread left and could have probably went the full mileage distance but they have been horrible in rain and snow since after the first year or so. I have read though that they have supposedly improved the rain traction in the recent models. A little more time will tell when actual users run them through real life life spans.
