Default Iiiiiiiiidiots!!! Tires installed wrong way

I was putting on my winter tires today and found the shop put all four tires on the wrong way round. These winter tires are clearly directional as they are stamped with "inside" and "outside", yet all the "insides" were put on the "outside".

I bought new rims and had them installed last winter so I've been driving around like this for a least a few months.

I don't know how a tire shop can ****** up such a simple job. Idiots! Need to have a talk with them.

Wow! That's crazy! I always worried about this happening to my tires. It doesn't make sense that they messed up all four tires.

Yeah, people who work in these shops just don't pay attention sometimes. I had this happen to me, I hope the modern tires don't get damaged by driving backwards.

Turns out, there are 3 types of tires (Look at Page 5 of the attached):
1) Directional
2) Asymmetric
3) Directional and Asymmetric
Each has specific mounting procedure and requirements for the periodic tire rotation.

I may be geometrically challenged but doesn't this fix itself if you rotate the tires from the left to the right side?

If it was a directional issue then yes. But the problem here is the side mounted outside was meant to be inside.

Rotated to the other side the inside would still be outside.

Exactly. According to the definitions in the document rkw77080 sent, the tires would be classified as "asymmetric". If I put them on the other side, the wall would still say inside. You need to physically reverse the tire on the rim. I'm sure this is more common than people think. I took them back to the shop and had them flip the tires. Didn't notice much of a difference, but I don't want to take any chances in the snow.
