Default Sweet Smell - Possibly Heater Core?

In the last few weeks, I have noticed the sweet odor of coolant at start-up. It only occurs one of every four times or so and goes away very quickly. It could be a leak in the heater core. I don't recall hearing about anyone else with this issue. Has anyone had to replace a heater core, hoses or other parts to solve this? Suggestions are appreciated, thank you.

i would give the engine bay a good inspection for dried coolant, pink chalky areas first then go from there.

Don't see many people talking of heater core issues with these cars. I would check your radiator, hoses etc under the hood first. Let car run and get up under dash and see if you can smell or feel for any leaks.

The red coolant is nasty stuff when it leaks so you should find it if inside. I would also check the radiator seams and hoses first as well as pressurizing the system to check for leaks.

+1 check the rad and reservoir. If no evidence get it pressure tested. You can also put UV dye in the coolant and use a black light to trace the leak. Dye is available off Amazon.
