My Custom Cat-Back Exhaust 04-LS430
I wanted a nice exhaust for my LS. A buddy of mine owns Endless Autosport and he has great deals on parts. I decided to go with Magnaflow mufflers. I wanted to ditch the 3rd cat, delete the resonators, install a Magnaflow X-Muffler, 2 rear mufflers and tips. Another friend of mine owns Rawspeed and does fab work. He ordered up some Stainless 304 tubing 2.25" and some Vibrant bends and V-Band clamps. The Vibrant V-Bands are nice, the bends are not. Most of it is TIG welded with only a couple of MIG welds. He would have been better off pie cutting all the bends but it would have taken a lot more time. Anyway here is the finished product. Nice tone, louder and deep. I might have him fab up some tailpipes and tips (without mufflers) and try that. We fired it up with just the mid section with the X-Muffler in and it did sound great.

A catalytic converter is an emissions control device that converts toxic pollutants in exhaust gas to less toxic pollutants by catalyzing a redox reaction (oxidation or reduction).
From autorepair.com
"A resonator installed as part of your car or truck’s exhaust system serves one main purpose — to resonate. It’s sort of an echo chamber for your car’s exhaust, preparing all of the loud noise coming from your engine for the muffler to silence it.
The resonator doesn’t just remove sound, it changes it. When your car was designed, there was a team of acoustic engineers working to be sure any sounds that come from your vehicle while you’re driving are as pleasant as possible. Obviously, the most pleasant drive for many people would be a silent car! The problem these acoustic engineers run into is the quieter you make an engine, the less powerful and efficient it becomes. You could design a muffler that would make almost no noise come out of the car’s tailpipe, but it would be so restrictive that your car would be hideously slow and get terrible gas mileage!"
So you are removing components designed to reduce emmissions and noise and adding components to increase the noise even louder.
Almost all states have laws (see transportation codes of your state) regulating the use of a muffler and deletion of catalytic converters. Even inspection places are supposed to examine the exhaust systems for modifications.
I'm hoping you don't live in a neighborhood where your noisy car will affect their ability to enjoy peace and quiet. I know the law enforcement in our area will enforce the laws on exhaust modifications, especially when neighbors complain.

Very nice work! I doubt very much that the system is even remotely loud enough to be annoying to anyone around him. My neighbor mowing their lawn would be louder and annoy me well before that system would.
Does the car throw any DTC codes?
The people that work at the emission testing facilities where I live don't look at anything on your car. They plug in the scanner, tell you if it passed or failed and send you on your way. It takes all of about 60-90 seconds.

I wanted the X-Muffler so I'd have an X-Section in the exhaust and no drone. I am going to end up doing headers also. I'd probably stick with 2.25" piping IMO. You can do 2.5" if you want. You might lose a little more low-mid end power. I would do:
Headers, keep the 2 front cats, do an X-Section, and 2 rear muffler and tips
Headers, keep the front 2 cats, do an X-Muffler, rear tails with tips, no rear mufflers..
