Just came back from a apprx 1k road trip this week mostly along I10 and some I75/I95. The LS with 80k on it, drove and handled beautifully. Quiet, comfortable and powerful, the LS was made for road trips. We got 25.6 mpg average (running premium gas) with mostly highway driving doing 70-80 mph on interstates with cruise control on about half the time.
We did run into some periods of very heavy rain last night and I am happy to report the Michelin Premiers (with apprx 5k miles on them) behaved extremely well. I felt zero hydroplaning despite running relatively fast in heavy prolonged downpour. The Premier is the best tire for rain I have ever had on any of my cars.

Yes these cars are great for road trips. Jabberwocky, will be interesting to see how you like the Premiers. Just bought a set. First impression is a good balance of comfort and response. My Primacy's had 50k so the ride is noticeably quieter and smoother. I plan to do the rear sway bar and sport bushings F/R. Sounds like an easy improvement. I did drove an LS w/ the Sports Suspension. Nice but hard to find used.

I do 1,400 mile trips quite frequently in my LS from going home to Naples, Fl from my college in Rochester, NY, non-stop, except for fill-ups obviously. At least 4 times a year. I got Michelin Primacy's from Costco (which I highly recommend doing due to their free rotation and re-balance policy) and they have great for about 50k now, still tons of rubber on them and rides great. Surprisingly good in the snow as well!
