Default Recirculating air, default on start-up

Couple questions for you guys. Whenever I start my LS, it is always in recirculating mode. Is there a way to set it to always start in the fresh air setting, or whatever setting it was at when I turned the car off. Is this something that the dealer can program?

Also, whenever I park the car, I always put it on the fresh air setting. When does it switch to recirculating? Does it switch it over when I turn the car off, or when I turn it back on?

There are sensors in the car that determine temperature and humidity inside vs. outside which open and close the re-circulation vents depending upon those variables.

Mine never really switches to fresh air when I leave it on Auto Mode unlike my other cars. I don't know if the Maryland weather really affects it that much due to the humidity, and also I think I may need to clean the smog sensor. I am not sure if that would help as well, but it may be pretty clogged since the car came from California.

Yeah, I had played around with the settings. I put it to the least sensitive and it almost always stay at the recirculate. As for the cleaning, I need to get my trusty hand tools and lazy butt out into the garage and in this humidity.

I don't think there's a way to change that as the default program, I agree that it should be where you left it when you stopped the car, just like the temperature setting.

Fortunately, I almost always want the recirculate option as I live in a really hot climate, but I had a car before that would do the opposite and default to the outside air every time and it got annoying to always switch it.

Yeah, when in use I always have it in recirculating. I'm in Bakersfield, pretty hot here too. I just like to leave it on the fresh air setting when the car is parked so that the car can breath and any moisture in or around the evaporator can dry. I read in some owners manuals to never park with it in the recirculating mode because it can lead to that funky smell.

I was just at the dealer today and completely forgot to ask about it.
