EZPass and 3rd gen

EZPass and 3rd gen
New here and didn't really find anything through a search (there was an ES and rain sensor issue)......
There are no gotchas with the 3rd gen windshield and EZPass, right? Normally I wouldn't care since tags are linked with accounts...but I'll be picking up a 2006 LS430 on Sat. with a temporary tag, and it would be a real time-saver to slap on a current EZPass. Not an expert but I believe the days of windshields which need the exterior tag are gone....thx.

No issues. I have one stuck to the inside of the windshield a couple inches from the top of the glass and behind the rearview mirror, positioned just so that I can't see it from the driver's seat and it works 100% of the time.

Welcome to CL.
I have EZ Pass in all 4 LS430's and they all work flawlessly, not only in my home state of IL, but also when travelling through Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.
Edit: I located mine in same position on windshield as shmi.

Just curious. Can you keep the EZpass in the small drawer below the radio and it still be read? If not I would just keep it handy and put it on the dash when I was on a toll road so I wouldn't have to stick it to my window.

Not sure....the only reason I became paranoid was in those scenarios where you have a rental or loaner car...they can tack on admin fees. So the toll is $5, but it's $135 with the fee (meaning I never gave it any thought before).
With the LS, I don't have a plate...I heard that when a car goes through the lane and a tag is not read, 5 high res pics are taken from various angles? As long as your plate is registered with the system, it just takes longer to process.
Anyway, it's working fine to the right of the rain sensor. I just remember there were cars with special glass that interfered, but the LS seems just fine, and I have the OEM windshield....
I have waved it with my hand in another car and have it not read, so I gave up and stick it now. Even to rental cars. I don't even use the suction cup thing, I just remove the velco afterwards. And keep extras...

I use the Ipass (Illinois version) and I tried this exact thing. The on-ramps have the Ipass lane and there's a small blue light stationed at the toll lane that lights up when you trigger the sensor. With the Ipass unit in the drawer, it doesn't trigger that lamp, but it will work sitting on the dash.

Not surprised, John...Anything older than 8-10 years seems to be considered an "older" car and won't show up on these types of data bases... Stupid.
