I'm on my third LS 430. Bought my first one 10 years ago, a low mileage '04 which I totaled (no one hurt) then I replaced that one with an '05 which was stolen. By then there was no other car on the road that measured up to the LS so I found an '06 and am driving that. It's my favorite car.
....what happened to blondes, and why not at the same time...hahaha j/k

Default First Lexus....finally

Taking delivery today on my first Lexus....a wonderful 2005 ls 430 with only 104K on her. I am 73, semi-retired, farm woman who also owns a 93 F150 4x4. I do as much mechanical work on my vehicles as time and expertise allows. There is sweet satisfaction in changing the oil and having a cold beer afterward! The Lexus was 66K new, way beyond my budget. Today she is a refined mature lady with every bit of her pep, beautiful gray lines, and fire in her belly. I will keep her till the wheels fall off.......of me, not her!

Congrats and welcome!! I know exactly what you mean. I don't feel like it's really my car (any car), until I change the oil. Sometimes, there isn't much cost savings in doing so, but imho you really get a sense of the condition of a lot of things, just by doing the oil. On the LS430, I used Mobil 1 because I had it, and I use a WIX XP filter. I really like WIX as it's made in USA, and the XP is their best. Very affordable, like $7 from rock auto. Then I got OEM drain plug washers on amazon, like $6.69 per 10. My hoity toity coworkers got me into craft beer unfortunately, now I'm spending sometimes $10.99 for a six pack!
