The timing belt has arrows marked on the outside surface indicating the location of the timing marks. Should these marks point towards the front or rear of the engine?
The timing belt I purchased had 3 marks "L-CAM" for left camshaft, "R-CAM" for right camshaft, and "C.R." for crankshaft. The right and left orientation is based on the driver's perspective (looking from inside the car towards the front), so left would be the driver-side and right would be the passenger-side. The arrows are pointing towards the front of the car.
Well, I've always put those marks toward the front of the engine, so I could see the marks as I'm installing the belt. However, the belt is consistent in it's groove depth/width all the way around, so that really shouldn't make a difference.
