Did they say why the oil filter should be changed?

Your annual mileage is extremely low, but it's somewhat re-assuring that they told you to keep the oil after 2 years, considering that Lexus tells us to change the oil every 6 months regardless of miles and oil type.
The TBN when new was 12.1 and it tested at 10.1. The TAN was at 1.3 (limit is 1.5). Both Amsoil and the testing service (Oils Auto Delivery...ALS Labs) recommended changing the filter at one-year regardless of mileage. By changing the filter you also add back new oil in the amount needed for the oil filter which slightly increases the TBN and decreases the TAN (replenish additive package). I'll do a full change when 6 months is up. I had two options and I chose the cheaper one since I had pretty much finished putting on the majority of the years mileage when the results came back. From talking with Amsoil and two different labs the limit on synthetics of mileage and time is based on conservative time elapsed (and of course mileage if you rack up high-miles). For example, one-year is becoming popular with extended drain intervals and its in large part due to TBN and TAN. If I lived in a high-humidity area the additives would have to work harder to keep the TAN below the limit of 1.5. It may be one year on the Florida coast or marine application but the oil can last 2+ years in moderate humidity or longer in low-humidity climates. Since I have several other collector vehicles and run the same oil (in varying weights) I am now stretching those other vehicles out to 2-years with an annual filter change. I recently did an oil flush on the LS430 I bought a year ago and after using the Signature Series 5W30 I will do an oil analysis with TBN/TAN to see how their newest formulation compares. Since they just addressed LSPI and also soot caused by DI engines I suspect the additive package is even stronger so the results will similar.

Have you tried a dipstick pump? Sounds perfect for your application. Just pump out a quart and replace it with fresh oil. Beats having to change the oil filter in order to drain some oil.

I have a siphon pump but the oil analysis company requested a stream sample (where Blackstone & some others request a stream or pump sample). Since I have a lift in my shop, changing the filter is quick.

Default Another Data Point

At my last oil change, I collected a sample and sent to Blackstone Labs for analysis. I have been using Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 for about the last 30k miles, with ~5k mile oil change intervals. For filtration, I use Toyota filters for both oil and air. The air filter had about 25k miles of use at this oil change (and was changed at this time), and I always change the oil filter at each oil change. The vehicle had 200k miles as of this report. The results are about what i expected, as my 1991 LS400 had similar wear levels at ~215k miles. My driving is about 90% highway. I purchased the car at 140k miles two years ago, and based on the service history, the car had mostly regular oil changes at the dealer with non-synthetic oil.

$28 for a basic test, which includes all metrics above in the report, except for test of the TBN (Total Base Number), which is an additional $10.

Thank you also how much oil did you have to give them and do you think they can test transmission oil?

Only a few ounces are needed, and they can test just about any automotive fluid.

The link below leads to a summary of what is involved in the collection of a sample and the other steps in the process.

The TBN reported seems low if the 8.6 recorded on this video is accurate. I’d contact Blackstone.

I recently acquired a 2002 430 with 83,000 miles, Southern California car, owned by my aunt-in-law. Came upon this thread when doing a search on capacity. For a 4.3 liter V-8 I find it disturbing that the crankcase holds less oil than my 2015 Golf SportWagen TDI which has 6 quarts. And my TDi is a 2 liter 4 banger.

Clearly, the Golf is more inefficient that it needs more oil.

You can't compare a Diesel engine with a gas engine. Wildly different compression ratios and very different oil requirements.
Most Diesels also have turbos and a much bigger oil cooler due to the oil also lubricating the turbo.
My S320CDI (3.2 litre V6 Turbo) took 8.5 litres of oil where the 4.3 liter V8 LS430 only takes 5 litres.
