Radio/Navgiation/Climate controls not coming on
Hi all,
I have an 05 LS430 with the ML stereo and NAV. For a while now it has been giving me issues where the dash and steering wheel controls would stop working. The nav unit and touch screen where worked fine at this point. For a while cycling power with the key would fix this. Then a couple days ago, this didn't work. I pulled the radio out and checked the connections. Putting it back in fixed it for a day or 2. Then it locked up again. I started reading all radio threads and suspected the amp. Before I had a chance to check anything. Everything when out. The Nav screen doesn't come on and no lights on the radio. First I checked all the fuses that need to work for the components nothing. Then just to be sure I checked all of the fuses in the car (All 5 boxes). All of them checked out. I then pulled the negative battery cable for a few minutes. Repeated with leaving the amp fuse out... Still nothing. Are there other buried fuses somewhere?
I going to put the radio and check to see if power is getting the connecters and then try to trace it back if not.
If it was just the Radio I would just replace it with an aftermarket one but I need to be able to control AC/Heat.
Any ideas what might be going on/what to look at next.
Thanks,
Mike
*** UPDATE *** It turned out to be a partially blown fuse. The constant 12v was only at 1v and that fuse passed the little fuse checker I was using. Replaced the fuse and everything is working for now. I probably still have the amp issues mentioned in other posts but at least things are making sense now.
