I like this car
Says an 18 y.o. niece, as I took her and her 16 y.o. brother to the airport this AM.
Hmmmm......I guess some teenagers do have excellent taste!

My 23 y.o. son said I should drive around with a cigar in my mouth since I drive a banker's car. What does he know...

haha a contemporary, wife's cousin, who just got a used 2006 530i wagon loaded, for $11k, looked us LS430 on his iPhone as he was not familiar with what model it is. He said, "Oh, an executive car."
He feels confident that he can DIY any issue he may have with the 530i, and it's coming from Ft. Lauderdale with all svc. records, 120k miles. I wish I could confidently buy a German car used like that, I cannot....most are cheaper than the LS and started out more....like a 2k6 A8.....

My wife said just that, "old person's car," when I pointed it out to her a month before we got it. There was in fact an elderly lady driving it.....but she does like it. The torque/acceleration....
I was truly surprised when the 18 y.o. niece liked it....

I was 21 when I bought it, and my father told me it was an old man car. 4 years later he admits that its amazingly well built though. And my grandpa always loved it! Almost got him to admit that it's better than his beloved Town Cars. Rest his soul.
After I recently lowered it a bit and put aftermarket wheels on, I get the drug dealer one from time to time. I guess that's understandable. They're 18" wheels though, and I'm not slammed low...
Through a drive-thru window and at stop lights more than once I have been asked if it's MB/BMW.
Funny, I did buy mine from a dentist (who bought it new in 99).

Lol you must live in an upscale area. Take a ride through Baltimore or Philly and you'll see the industry is very much alive and well. They don't use smart phones. You can buy throwaway non GPS trackable phones at any convenient store with no personal info attached.

I get the "its such an old lady car" comment quite often. One of my coworkers was looking at it and was like "Umm I think my grandma used to drive this car." I don't get offended at all.

I enjoy the joke. Interesting that someone thinks it's an "old lady's car". Usually it's "an old man's car". How many women actually own an LS? I see many LS's but not many women drivers. I have seen one very well dressed lady obviously having fun gliding down the road in her glossy black LS 430.

Don't really care what anyone says about an LS430.... Still one of the best cars out there .... I have been tracking '05 and '06s just in case the '01 starts to get worn down.....

Anyway does a dealer have a stereotypical car...if so, it would clearly not be a Lexus, imho....

hehe sounds like The Wire. I'm not so naive so as to believe drug use is non-existent, but I do remember NYC before 1997 or so, and what took place. I remember cruising through Hunts Point NY and seeing everything out in the open. A car was being stripped, NYPD rolled by, shined a spotlight on the perps, and kept rolling. I was shooting this stuff with 1600 ASA film, and my buddy said you better stop, you're going to get yourself killed.

I have heard a few comments also regarding my LS430. I could care less. Bear in mind that most folks have terrible taste and zero sense of elegance in design. Not surprising at all that more than a few don't appreciate the classic style and elegance of the LS430. I am very happy the LS is somewhat underappreciated, if not I likely would have had to pay a much higher price for mine.
I think more than a few LS430 owners don't fully appreciate the LS430 until they try to replace it.
