Default Yet another way to add AUX to your radio...

My first LS was a '98 400 and I recently recalled that there was an electronic service which added an AUX port to the face of the radio unit. I never had it done, but now that I have an ML 430, I thought I'd inquire to the company to see if they would do something similar.

Turns out, they do. And, it's very reasonable at $85, plus shipping. Turnaround is 1-2 days - that's wicked fast!

There are two different ways: 1) they have a cable for external mounting of the jack, and a button on the face to push, and 2) they mount an actual jack in the faceplate.

I believe you have to select FM1 or FM2 for the connection.

Anyway, the site is http://factoryradioservice.com/lexus...s-c-41_42.html

Anyone have any feedback on this? I'd like to know if anyone has it and if the sound quality is good?

Back in around 2012 I had Factory Radio Service install an aux-in on the Nakamichi head unit of the 2000 LS400 that I drove for 11 years. Even through he tapped into the FM section to do it, the sound quality was wonderful - like listening to a CD. Turnaround was super quick.

I went with the more expensive option with the aux-in port installed on the back of the head unit, an on/off button on the face of the head unit and an aux-in cable. Here is a thread about it that includes info about the ground loop isolator I had to use to eliminate electrical interference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...0-ls400-2.html

If you have it done, be sure to specify exactly the type of install that you want. The only person I remember being a little unhappy with his aux-in install didn't understand the differences in install types.

Here's a link to the LS430 page on the Factory Radio Service website: https://factoryradioservice.com/lexu...n36ga2ednh59n7

He also offers both Bluetooth A2DP and handsfree phone capability on some head units. Ask him if you are interested in those. He also repairs radios. He's my go-to guy for that. I wish all businesses I dealt with were this good.
