Alarm going off at night. Need help
HI everyone,
I recently purchased a 2002 Lexus LS430 with 150k. Got it for a really good price but after about a week of having it, the alarm has been turning on at night. Nothing around it seems to be triggering it. I had to unplug the horns so it doesnt keep bothering the neighbors. ( third horn is located by the battery fyi) but the headlights are still going off for about 1 minuite. I dont want my battery to end up dying if this continues. Does anyone know what could be causing this and know a solution? The only flaws with the car are that the front passenger door actuator doesnt work, it doesnt have a master key (only the grey key) and oviously this annoying alarm problem.

Lock your doors with the fob... go around and check each door you may have a motor going out in the actuator. Happened on my gs300 turned out to be the rear passenger lock. The car would be lock but the motor going out would unlock it on its own for some reason. Since nothing else triggered the lock it sounds the alarm. Same if you lock the doors and open it from the inside through and open window. Worth a shot but that was my experience.

I dunno if a '02 has the smart key system or not, but when I got my car the driver door actuator did not function. Logically, one would think that all that would happen is you can't lock or unlock the driver's door with the power locks, end of story. But no, the inductive wiring in the handles did not function on any door, so there is more going on by virtue of the actuator being non functional.
Since the selling dealership promised to fix it, I remember wondering to myself, when they fix it, yes I believe my power locks will work and I won't need the key anymore, but will the handles suddenly function for unlocking? And they did. It would be curious to see if repairing the pass door actuator fixes the alarm condition, or has anything to do with it. How does the door lock now, there's no keyhole on the outside, a manual process?
And we have a third horn?
