I suggest purchasing the lasted available update disk for the LS430 while they are still available (got mine on ebay) just to have the latest available maps and use it as a backup to other more current navigation aids.
I've only had an LS for a little over 2 years but I can't think of a time I ever used the OEM navigation. The actual navigation is only good for a rare backup as mentioned. I bought a nice phone holder and use Waze almost daily. My biggest grip with the OEM Nav is always having to hit the "I agree" button when the unit first comes on as well as I wish it would remember that I was using the Audio screen the last time I used it so that it would go back to that when it started up the next time.

When I was looking for my second LS I considered buying a non-Nav car, which seemed like that was all there was when looking, but I really wanted the backup camera without having the look of aftermarket. To me, that's really the only reason to buy one with the factory Nav.

I need to upgrade my Nav disk to the latest just in case like you mention. First I need to find out what I have and make sure it's not the latest, I doubt very seriously it is but I need to double check first.

I didnt hear any one say they couldnt stand the LS-430, did you?? Maybe I missed that post. Criticizing areas of the car serves to improve the car. Keeping your mouth shut and accepting failure just makes the failure last longer.
