Question Wood in interior of LS-430

I was very surprised to find that the Lexus uses real wood, not a plastic simulation like the Lincoln Towncars do..
This makes it much easier to refurbish when it begins to deteriorate.
I am having some crazing on the forward side of the top of the steering wheel caused by ultraviolet from the sun.
Has anyone tried sanding down the varnish on the steering wheel and re varnishing it? Any tips?

I've never heard of anyone doing that. I've seen people replace there steering wheels when the wood starts to crack and look bad. There are a lot of used ones that still look good. Only sometimes the color of the wood may be slightly different.
