2003 LS430 - Cam Bolt Torque
Hello,
I am just finishing up a timing belt job on my 2003 LS430 with a friend. By accident we used the bolt on the cam shown to rotate the cam and crank shaft with a socket.
It appears that we tightened it.
Anyone know what this bolt does? Is this bolt critical to operation? Does anyone know what is the correct torque for this bolt? We did not touch any of the other bolts on the cam.
Thanks!

Awesome! Thank you!! So it's reusable and basically for sealing purposes.
If we overtorqued it, should we untorque it and retorque it? Or leave it alone? Do you know if that is a crush seal? My concern is if we deformed it and we go back to a lower torque it may not seal properly.

I would put on a new $0.92 seal washer and re-torque the bolt to 11 ft-lbs. The low torque setting suggests that this is a "soft" seal, and the problem with these seals in the engine bay is that they tend to harden as they age, and over-torquing can cause crack/leak. The old seal washer may fall apart if you un-torque the bolt, so I'd leave it alone if you don't have a new seal washer.
