Ok I got a 06 ls430 ML. I KNOW we don't actual tire TPMS we have a system that reads the radius of the tire. I know I hold the TP button down and it will say Tire Pressure System Initiated but never gives me any sort of read back!???

The system does not give any tire pressure details since there is no individual sensors in the wheels. It will say initialized like you stated and then you will need to drive for a certain amount of time or distance to register/understand the tire pressure. If you have the owners manual it will give you more information on the TPMS. Pretty much at this point you are telling the system at which the tire pressure should be. The only time you will get feedback is if the system senses a tire is low on pressure, but it will not be able to tell you which one.

I observe the same, I take that message to mean that the system reset as it should.....a way to test it is to let some air out of a tire and see if the system responds. Personally, I prefer not to have sensors. I replaced them on my BMW proactively when I got new tires, as the sensors were over 8 y.o. They cost $220, and that was the best price I could find online. Why spend it if you don't need to? Audi/VW have no sensors on brand new cars, that's $200-$300 owners don't have to spend on their snow tire rims....

I have had 2 flat tires in the LS430 and tire pressure monitor did not go off either time.

Could be the system doesn't work, then. Let's say it were a slow leak over two days. How's the system going to know there's 0 psi, until it drives. But we were taught to always use a gauge, never to eyeball tires. Why do we need to stop using common sense when technology arrives.

I actually prefer the way this system works rather than buying those silly sensors every time you get tires. I believe it just can sense tire speed and figure out if a tire is low, but can't give you actual psi.
And the people that never checked their tire pressure also ignore the dash lights that come on. It's all about litigation and car companies getting sued that those new tire sensors are mandatory on newer vehicles.

I admit there was one time the system helped me on a 428i gran coupe loaner, some **** *** inflated the RF up to 57 PSI.....I happened to see it when I scrolled through the iDrive....guess not everyone treats loaners like their own...

I keep an eye on tire pressure and condition. I've heard the problems but for me the "low tire pressure alert" has been very handy. Both times, it was a puncture problem (slow leak) while on the freeway. Had time to find an off ramp.

To put things into perspective, there are auto insurance cos. advertising how a teenager doesn't have to know how to change a tire thanks to them. We need to reverse this trend imho.

I am putting TPMS sensors on my Touareg as we speak as I dislike the 20's and want to go to 18's and I got some TPMSless rims on ebay. I like the TPMS as it saves tires from irregular wear as you can easily check tire pressure with fluctuating temperaturses verses getting on your hands and knees to do it. Now it is 800 bucks for sensors(got some oem on ebay for 200, tire rack 284$ so/but I still like em as chopped feathered tires from low tire pressure is not good(though this also comes from alignment yes)
I used TPMS on my LS once I got a nail it kicked in at 22 lbs and I limped to Sears to get a plug. I otherwise prolly would have been stranded and had to chcnge my tire at 58 y/o (where do the years go) not good either.

YA know changing a tire on the side of the road is prolly one of the most dangerous on road situations, I check my TPMS on dash readout, it has been flawless, almost every time I get in the car to see where I sit at 7-10 degree temp fluctuations. It is a VW Audi Porsche system it really has worked well for me. I would really look for this feature in the future when I buy next car. I have 38k on my scorpions with 5/32 even tread a testament to the TPMS
Side note: I really like my Touareg with the TDI motor 420 lbs of torque is a lower badged Cayenne Get a chance drive one, I think with the settlement I will be getting a one year old dealer transport car with 4000 miles on it for 35 grand listed at 63 grand. I have 37k on it now not a single problem.
