This gen's cooled seats do not work well. It'd cool faster if you go to 7-11 and buy a pack of ice and throw it on your seat rest. The seat cooling function is slow and very weak even if you turn it on full blast. I'd just live with it as there isn't much you can do.

As others have said, the cooled seats are not the pinnacle of great engineering. That said, replacing the seat cushion greatly improved the airflow through the seat in my old '02 UL. Also, replacing the filter doesn't hurt. When I got the car, I replaced the paper portion of the seat filters by cutting out pieces of an old furnace filter that I had. Worked well.

If you keep your car immaculate like most of us, I would think you could go without the underseat filters... This will provide a little bit more air flow.

Do these cars have what I call the "***** vent"???? You know, that little vent right below the steering wheel. Aiming that in the right spot I've found helps a lot.

Default Cooling seats not work that well

Cooling seats don't work that well on my 2004. Changing the filters didn't help much either.

I was just testing the cool function on my seats since it's starting to get hot and I truly could not feel the air. In my wifes GS you can feel it immediately.

I almost wonder, does moving from off (center), to 9 o'clock, to 7 o'clock really do anything at all? I'd prefer for no cooling function, leather without holes, and a better heating system...I find this to be a gimmick, kinda like charging a cordless toothbrush without a plug/inductive wiring....sounds good, inefficient....

with the GS, do you feel air if you put your hand to it?

C'mon. Are you serious? Sit in the driver's seat with damp boxers, then turn to 7 o'clock!

I would have to check if I can actually feel the air coming out the seat like a breeze but I know the cooling effect is there.

Just got an 04 LS, base - 115k miles
Heated seats work within 7-10 min
Cooled seats are barely felt at all if any.....

Mine work fine. But you must keep unclogged filters in the seats. Especially the drivers seat as that is the dirtiest environment. Every time the car is driven dirt is dragged in by the drivers shoes and deposited on the mats. Even though the airflow is at a low rate, dust will deposit on that seats filter. The drivers seat cushion also gets the most wear and compression. Also if leather conditioner is used heavy and often the foam can become clogged. Lexus manual states that cleaning the seat is to be done without conditioner as the seats have a urethane finish. After 13-17 years of use one could expect to have reduced airflow if not kept clean.
