I've owned 2 LS430s and recently went into a 2008 LS460. Overall the quality of the LS430 is better than the LS460. The interior material in the Ls460 is softer i.e leather, and what seems to be spray on rubber over foam surface padding which softens up and will fail and fall off the foam, especially on the door arm rests or any sharp corners. I have comfort plus package so I have leather stitched armrest not rubber so I am ok. Some owners have their armrest wrapped in leather or vinyl by an upholsterer. I just replaced the NAV surround trim $240 which had cracks around the vents due to heat and AC cold blasts over the years that dry up the trim, common problem. I am a Diyer so I addressed most of my trim problems, but a bit disappointed. Maybe this is where they cut some cost because the exterior, suspension components, Engine, transmission are all better and more advanced. Much better gas mileage compared to the old 4.3 V8. The Ls460 feel like a bigger car more planted to the ground. The engine is just slightly louder than the Ls430. You wanna hear ticking listen to the GS350. The LS460 is no where near as loud. The control arm issue is overblown. There are plenty of good aftermarket option. I just replace 4 upper arms myself for $150 total. Any basic mechanic can do the job. Mine were worn at 90k miles but still functional. Wind noise was addressed with new updated window corner trim and extra silicon sealant and Honda silicone gel around the door seals.

The LS430 was a phenomenal vehicle for me. I don't think I ever complained about any issues on this forum. I joined when I got my 2001 LS430 back in 2004. Would I go back to one? Probably not because it looks so dated. I'd go a GS400/GS430 all day over the LS430. The LS460 is very satisfying for now.
