I am of the same camp, I let it go....my wife's car had its steering rack replaced at 27k under a TSB, and there are plastic pins missing (and as we all know these are not cheap, they can be over $2 ea list). It just goes to show that to many, working on other peoples' cars is just a job, I am pretty certain when working on their own, they treat it like it's their own. Well the Exxon that I went to last Wed. seemed very polite and courteous. A CLS550 came out before me. Just the nature of the person in charge/owner was like they are trying to earn the business. "Mr. xxxxxxxx, let's see if we can get you out of here quickly. Please have a seat, and help yourself to a drink." They had some designer waters as well as the electrolyte drinks in the refrigerator case. Then for him to later say our business model is for volume, not looking for things to fail you on. Meaning, cars that notably are pass-worthy, this is a quick (well not really) $46 for them less sales tax, I guess they want to have these lined up...

My BMW was once serviced the day before a hurricane, so I got a call at 14:00 EST, please come back with the loaner, we're closing early (this was a NJ dealer, if it were mine, they would have said keep it until Mon or Tue). I said yeah but what about my recall? They said it's done (I thought this was an all day job).

So in BMW fashion (until 2016), I could find no evidence that the work was performed. Kept poking around and around, AH, THERE'S THE EVIDENCE!! The tech did not snap in one piece of the wiring loom running across the top of the engine bay, so he really did do the work!! That's how it should be. When I say until 2016, another dealer broke a wire and denied in 2016. Terrible, but they paid in the end.

Yep ...its a shame......Honestly the place where my car was treated the best ....service wise.....was at the Lexus dealer. However my car was parked tight between 2 cars and someone stole a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses from my glove box on that trip. cant catch a break. Yes I have removed all valuables now.....

I hope you don't live in the Alexandria area...I used to go there for training, and it drove me bonkers seeing techs at Mercedes Benz driving customer cars out to buy their lunch. I wanted to ask them who do they think they are? I suppose say someone took something while they went inside to get their sandwich, they would not be responsible. Of course more folks have dash cams today...

Now that I know a couple of indies, one for BMW, one for Lexus, I actually think they do a better job and care more. Sometimes I'd rather wait for my car so they can't **** around, but that's also old fashioned and time consuming, so I usually don't...

I also always remove everything from cars when they're being serviced, and thought this is probably a waste of time...you never know. My buddy was missing all his loose change, and the Honda dealer told him we don't steal peoples' change, nice try. But he is not so petty that he would make it up, he said it was about $8, and he needed it for the train station and found it gone...

Well what if you saw that the tech was very well groomed, and he was careful to put the plastic draped over your seat, and it had the paper floor mat with the blue footprints? lol j/k
