Romanova, your previous post identified your car as a "Non-Navigation". In most cases, this option comes with a "Standard" sound system by Pioneer. However, some "Non-Navigation" LS430 are equipped with the premium Mark Levison sound system (see photo below). The impedance ratings for the subwoofers are different between the brands. So out of over abundance of caution, can you please confirm that you have a "Standard" Pioneer sound system.

Yes, my system is the standard Pioneer system. I didn't know you could get a non-navy car and still have ML audio... Cool.

I looked at my old head u it and it has a TRAFFIC function where the ML logo is on the above-referenced picture.

Sub showed up today. Won't get it installed for a week or two. Will update then. In the mean time, here are a few pics of the sub. Looks pretty solid, I just hope the factory amp pushes enough juice through it to get it going. The box says it needs at least 150 watts to function optimally.

The terminals are nice because they are spring loaded.

I also found a set of 2ohm speakers for the front door. For the non-ML system, the front door speakers were 2ohm and the rear doors were 4ohm. 2ohm speakers that are not a component set are a bit difficult to find. Once those show up, I'll start a separate thread as there isn't much out there for upgrades for us non-ML folks.

Waiting for my rear shocks to install those and the sub all in one weekend.

Just a slight correction to the way how Lexus names its products, if you don't mind. Lexus actually calls standard audio system Lexus Premium Audio, which is Pioneer.

It appears that both options (Pioneer and Mark Levinson) are called "Premium Sound System". Sorry if I offended you. I didn't mean to belittle anyone - I misinterpreted the term "Standard" used on factory repair manual.

Oh you are fine I didn’t mean to have you think in this way. I would always align Pioneer systems to premium as they recommended themselves as a good quality stuff for car audio.

Sub is in. Took about one hour. For the old sub, you can't take off the bracket so you'll need to use screws of your own to secure the sub. I cut the connector off of the old sub and it made it pretty easy to wire it up. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't even bother, not much change from stock. With an aftermarket head unit there is still no way to really control the subwoofer, so adjusting the bass adjusts the bass for all of the speakers. Oh well, lesson learned. FWIW, my stock sub was fine, no signs of cracking or damage.

Dealer I bought the car from put a kenwood head unit in the car and I think a beatsonic kit. Looks like he did a pretty good job.
I replaced the 4 door speakers with POLK and it sounds great but the bass is coming from the speakers and not the sub, this is the last hurdle.
I haven't removed the dash or rear tray to investigate the wiring but I am trying to understand the system. I'd love if just replacing the sub was the answer but I feel it's not.
The stock head unit sends a "bass signal" to the amp and the amp sends it to the sub? I see he ran wires throughout the interior since when I changed the cabin filter I noticed a few wires in the way. I'm wondering what these wires are for. If the car already has speakers and an amp why run wires to the back of the car.

BOth of the subs that come wiht the LS430 don't really make themselves known in the stock config.

As some have mentioned a LOC would definitely help, but you may want to consider replacing the subwoofer altogether. If you want to keep it in the rear deck, Try out the Boss CXX8. It's a single voice 600w peak 8" subwoofer I used to replace my busted one on my Ultra Luxury. Really nice increase in bass for $25. With an amp it really helps make up the difference and I'm pretty happy with it.

No. If you read the beginning of this thread it explains the difference between the 2 systems.
